At night on 19 Nov., approximately 75 (non)students from the New School, NYU, CUNY, and other university-factories in NYC marched from Washington to Union Squares and back in a gesture of solidarity with the wave of occupations that has swept the University of California system in response to the 32% tuition hike, budget cuts, and the reproduction of students as consumer-commodities ready to work for spectacle-subjects. The march saw crazy hooligans hanging banners off of buildings; masked rogues scattering trashcans, newspaper boxes and plastic barricades across Fifth Avenue; sexy dancing throughout the streets an attempted occupation of a Parsons art party as well as the good ol' 65 5th ave. Unfortunately, the fun ended when cops managed to pierce the motley mob, arresting two after beating them on the sidewalk. This was caught on film: watch here
The two arrested were taken to the 6th Precint in the West Village, where much of the crowd ended up at the end of the night, dancing and singing out front, distributing pamphlets and glow sticks, and remaining until the two walked free. |

Oh piggy, we've seen the lot
Oh piggy, we've seen the lot of you covered in your robo-cop gear, equipped with enough gear for a low-intensity conflict, backed up by THOUSANDS of other officers and YET STILL afraid of a couple hundred (sometimes less) individuals dressed in black and brimming with self-determination.
We've seen the nervous looks you glance back to your fellow officers, we've seen you awkwardly fumble with your batons/tazers/pepper-guns/ tear-gas canisters and what-not, and we've seen you quiver, and nervously fall back when we become powerful, or even when you have no idea what we intend to do exactly.
You can shoot immigrants, people of color, and others not high up on the social ladder without even flinching, but yet, when the collective wrath of those who you control on a day to day basis comes back to bite you, you have no clue if we will dish out what has been given to us, or if we will merely play cat & mouse games of throwing stones while you lob gas canisters.
This is why we have begun supporting local cop killers, because we feel an affinity with them, and we want to encourage that behaviour, because we want this war to be finally 2-sided.
See you on the streets, and remember - one day your power will slip out of your sweaty nervous hands.

"[I]f circumstances should
"[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens." Hamilton, Alexander. Federalist No. 29, "Concerning the Militia"
and
"Nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind” New Hampshire Constitution of 1784
and
"The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium
of the liberties of a republic, since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and
arbitrary power of rulers, and will generally, even if these are successful in the first
instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them."Joseph Story, COMMENTARIES ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES § 1897.

Dumbass pictures appropriate
Dumbass pictures appropriate to this dumbass site: the children need to amuse themselves!
Exactly. As if we need to
Exactly. As if we need to go out of our way to make it harder for people to take us seriously. Same goes for the ridiculous polls that are designed for 8 year olds.
If non-anarchists that visit
If non-anarchists that visit this site are turned off by the triviality and silliness of some of the pictures, then that's their problem. They should have had the intelligence to recognize the ubiquitous triviality and silliness that pervades the entire internet itself. But apparently most non-anarchists are smug, uptight neurotics who have an acute inability to take a joke or comprehend light hearted foolishness. Or perhaps that's just you.
And stop being so goddamn condescending to children. Most of the adults I know are either unapologetic alcoholics who work 9-to-5 and drink 5-to-9 or middle aged women who can only find enough spare time to pay bills, watch TV, sleep, do housework, and participate in casually religious comfort activities. It escapes me how adulthood is ultimately more conducive to wrangling in prospects for your microscopic movement than childhood.
Maybe it isn't a matter of being 'more serious' but a matter of you keeping your petty complaints to yourself and anarchists overcoming the intellectual mediocrity they seem to enjoy rolling around in -- including yourself, obviously, as you apparently perceive a lack of 'seriousness' as an integral factor contributing to the political impotence of radicals, while ignoring the fact that an indelible starkness stalks veritably every individual who frequents this site (excluding yourself and a few others?) and that an ounce of foolishness, which is routinely repudiated in daily life outside of socially (which is to say, economically) acceptable recreation, can provide a welcome reprieve from that starkness. We can probably start by encouraging each other to get a sense of humor and stop whining about how we need to be 'understood'...

plenty of people have tried, buddy. your chances of success are impossible to none.
