The 11th Annual BASTARD Conference
Submit workshop proposals now!

This is the eleventh year of the always popular, engaging, and informative Berkeley Anarchist
Students of Theory And Research& Development conference. Every year we try to break up the monotony of the the workshop format by putting a twist into 8 hours of speeches and workshops. Our latest attempt at this are the Open Space Threads (OST), a way to bring anarchist theorizing away from the people at the front of the room and back into the room itself.

This is the third year where the OST will be part of the BASTARD conference.

Several anti-capitalist, anti-colonial groups and individuals are organizing a demo respecting the diversity of tactics on February 13th at 8:30am. Starting at Thorton Park, the theme is "2010 Heart Attack: Clog the Arteries of Capitalism", and is intended to disturb "business as usual" on the first day of the Olympic Games!

If you or your group wants to take an active role in Heart Attack, get in touch as soon as possible at 2010heartattack@resist.ca. The upcoming spokescouncil is RSVP with dates and location to be sent prior to the meet.

ALL OUT AGAINST THE 2010 WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES!

* New promo video!

1. Some things heard at the 2009 Bash Back! Convergence in Chicago:

“That train occupation was just so fucked up. Everyone was kissing and being so queer around all of these poor People of Color who couldn’t possible understand what that meant” – A racist, who fancies themselves as ‘an ally’ or something.

“Twinkle Fingers” - Evan Greer, of Riot Folk

——–

"This is a NON-VIOLENT protest!!!” - Someone dragging rubbish out of the street to allow police vehicles through.

dear riotgrrlfriends,

its 2010, another cold chicago winter, and we've got needs. we're lowercase squat and if u don't know u better ask somebody. thanks to a slumlord & a recession, we, like so many our neighbors (and probably urs) are facing eviction. we can't get into specifics now, but we need ur help.

we've opened our livingrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, closets, piles of free shit & undies to so many of u & now we need some love. real love, some we need the hook up type love. in three years we've been through so much and things are looking bleak. we've seen more cops, real estate agents, evictions, hip white kids, and gentrifying soulless businesses in our neighborhood than ever before. still, just like the ever-present tacos in the kitchen of lowercase & colton harris moore, we can't stop, we won't stop. join our twitter, facebook friend or become a fan of us (u know u have one), check out our list and give us the hook up. lets get occupied! squat the planet!

For the sixth time that the Libertarian Action Winterthur (your local contact person for anarchist theory and practice) to the long-awaited "anarchy days." On the weekend of 11 to 13 February is waiting for you a wellness program for mind and soul that can compare with any Luxuskurprogramm too.

Petersburg, Indiana, 12/08/2009 -- On Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 2 p.m., two Bloomington, Indiana residents being targeted by the state of Indiana for their opposition to the Interstate 69 highway construction project, Hugh Farrell and Gina "Tiga" Wertz, are scheduled to appear with their attorneys before a Pike County judge and file a motion to dismiss their charges.

In an ongoing process of the criminalization of dissent, Farrell and Wertz have been charged with the following: two counts of misdemeanor intimidation, two counts of misdemeanor conversion, and one count of felony racketeering – charges originally intended to target the mob. In laypersons' terms, the pair stand accused of organizing a theatrical office demonstration and of being alleged leaders of an organization (or “racket”) that opposes the expansion of Interstate 69 through Southern Indiana. For this, they face up to 12 years in prison.

Calling all angry wage slaves and anarchist subversives! You’re invited to participate in promoting an international day of action, STEAL SOMETHING FROM WORK DAY, scheduled for April 15, 2010. Following in the footsteps of Steal Something Day, itself a response to Buy Nothing Day, STEAL SOMETHING FROM WORK DAY focuses attention on the motivations behind employee theft and the horizons ahead of it.

STEAL SOMETHING FROM WORK DAY is a day of action, but it’s much more than that. The point is not so much to urge people to steal from their workplaces—employees of all ideological stripes already steal from their bosses without need of encouragement—as to raise awareness and promote dialogue about the means and causes of workplace theft. Imagine stickers and posters everywhere rendering the individualized action of workplace theft a topic of collective discussion. Imagine joking references to satirical websites spawning conversations about how coworkers can steal more and better together, and why they are entitled to. Imagine STEAL SOMETHING FROM WORK DAY.
