Someone should design self

Someone should design self-replicating robots which automatically take cameras out.

This just in: cameras rely on

This just in: cameras rely on mass electrical infrastructure. Disrupting it is disrupting people's subservient social relationship to the State. This may provoke a reactionary response from the consumer-slaves, BUT how is this worse to unarmed protesters on foot being rammed by a brute in a car?

Have fun taking down the low-hanging fruits that cameras SO poetically are, or even using an army of drones to take them down every week... The effort is laudable and sends an interesting signal of resistance for a brief period to the people around, but will it change much in the social relationship in your area?

What is the goal here?

Death of the panopticon by a

Death of the panopticon by a thousand cuts, presumably. Short-term gains, you already figured out on your own. Are you writing a forensics research project or something?

Then stop posting about it

Then stop posting about it online my friend! Unless you're a ninja master with cybersecurity and even then, just don't.

You realise it doesn't take a 'ninja master' to use tor, etc. right? it's shit like this that makes people so daunted by cyber-security that they don't even bother...

transforming spaces

Cameras rely on electrics... but this doesn't mean that taking out cameras will damage electrics.

Presence/absence of cameras affects what else can go on in the area. Whether people think they can break other laws and get away with it. Whether people feel they're being watched and have to watch what they do. CCTV makes people anxious, frightened, inhibited, conformist and judgemental.

The infrastructure is actually vulnerable, given limited state resources, and therefore eliminable.

I find it interesting that

I find it interesting that none of the videos from Greece are less than 7 years old, most coming from ~2009. Is it no longer a phenomenon there, or have they simply stopped posting to youtube?

The footage from that period

The footage from that period is the most spectacular. I take it you're not that familiar with the recent history?

The vague outline in my head

The vague outline in my head is after the 2008 revolt, things peaked (insurrecto-wise) with the burning of that bank with the people they didn't know were trapped inside. After that it was more big tent, anti-austerity stuff from the financial crisis. These days, my impression is that it's urban projects, like refugee assistance, squats, gardens, mesh nets, etc.. But I have no bearing for how common this sort of targeted vandalism still is. Graffiti still plasters all the walls from what I've seen, but that's not the same thing.
