TOTW: Mostly made of water

a tree falling into the great lakes

We’re mostly made of water. This week we’re exploring anarchist ideas and their relationship to water. Is there such a thing? Do you have a relationship to water? Do you define it as such or something else? What is your anarchist hot take about water?

Do you have favorite anarchist texts or other media & literature[1] that talk about or remind you the high seas, creeks*, and rivers of life? Perhaps something like... What do streams want?

In 2013, Peter Lamborn Wilson in riverpeople writes:

“The origin of this mixed poetry / prose / text, with geography & history in it, lies in an old ambition of mine to write an epic about every creek river pond swimming hole and large puddle of water in the whole of Ulster County, New York – which I soon gave up in consternation upon realizing that the number of water might far outnumber the veins nerves & lymph nodes of a human body – a giant human, buried in or identical with the whole County, or even the whole bio-clime, with an almost infinitely complex system of water, a hydraulic theory-body of endless ramifications & variations, very like a Mandelbrot set – but written on flowing water.”
- Peter Lamborn Wilson, “riverpeople”, page 1

What is the anarchist project related to water?

[1] Some literature references: In the opening sentence of Finnegans Wake by James Joyce, it reads “riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay, brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.” Jumping ahead, Mark Twain goes on to write multiple popular books centered around water including “Life on the Mississippi” and “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” Ernest Hemingway, buys a boat and packs it full of ice so they could stay out in the sea for weeks, Douglas Adams pontificates that somewhere in the universe is a place mostly made of water, and in "Waterworld" Kevin Costner dives down really deep to touch grass.

Water is nice for surviving and bathing in. And I live the sea.

and with live I mean like*

A source of hydrogen fuel and oxygen,,,,,,,,,helloooooo,,,,,,,,,,Elon Musk,,,,,,,WATER,,,,,,,on Mars, oh fuck no! Not another money spinning promise for the future of water!

Chemical bond-wise, 2 hydrogen join to 1 oxygen, like, where is that bond made in nature? Is there only a finite amoun t. Hydrogen gas isn't exploding all the time to produce enough water ? But then its all full of micro plastics, and insecticides, hahaaa, but life is good, better than dying from thirst in a desert like I nearly did once hahahaaaa!

Most water on Earth came from space in giant comet impacts 4 billion years ago approx. Water is a finite molecule with the majority of its molecule bonded with sodium chloride (salt).
Nuclear or solar powered desalination plants may be the last option if the present industrial culture wishes to endlessly grow its population and progress towards whatever,,,,,,,but the future is not good, and an ice age would be the only way to purify water and capture it in ice form in large enough volumes for future post-iceage life to thrive upon.
Only then will the primitivists have their way.

"Most water on Earth came from space in giant comet impacts 4 billion years ago approx"

Spoken like a true scientism cuck worshipper. Every ego anarch egregore knows that God made the Heavens and the Earth which included all of the infinite H20. You should worry more about purifying your soul egregore and less about purifying water.

This is bad pseudo science that made its way into mainstream science, due to the strict biology scientism we had domimating for most of the 20th century.

Water is generated through complex atmospheric, geological and cosmic dynamics. It's indeed originally sourced in gases and their transformation into liquids, that is the byprodict of these dynamics.

The belief that water came from elsewhere is as nonsensical as the Big Bang theory... As even if water came from somewhere else, it had to be created through processes that sustain its generation, elsewhere. If "balls of ice" are travelling through space, this means they came from water sources, somewhere. These water sources just don't exist out of nowhere, just like thre primordial Big Bang couldn't happen out of nowhere.

This is inherently failed scientist ideology, held as absolute truth up against the "evil" of Creationism.

There were previous planets of water which exploded and formed giant comets which plummetted through space driven by pri ordial universal forces draging matter into humungus black holes which propelled and exploded huge ice planets of hydrogen and oxygen ogether into massive exploding rain galaxies which spewed water out into the 8 corners of the imploding super universe,,,,,,,,So there.......

The ground here is too dry and the plants need water.

The inference of an anarchist idea having a relationship to water is enough to create the fairy tale. Now the spell is cast I feel its existence trickling through and around my chest and synapses like rain over brick.

I could say much, though perhaps it is enough to state there's little else more sensually beautiful and inspiring to me than the impact and caress of a rain drop on the skin, or the quenching of a thirst.

water is often used as a metonym for fluidity, people saying "be water", but water is often also found in stagnant pools, and frozen into blocks and permafrost. meanwhile, under the Earth's mantle there is more liquid magma than there is water in the oceans, and there is also a molten metal core, going against our deep-seated surface dweller notions metal and rocks as solids, and water as fluid. what is the nature of fluidity, what is the nature of stillness, what is the nature of nature? the Dao that can be told is not the eternal Dao

I would think that the anarchist project regarding water would be the same as indigenous "projects" regarding water. The old adage that "water is life" holds true and anything and everything that can be done to ensure its health, availability, freedom (from artificially interfering with its path or from multinationals pillaging aquifers) should be.

We are mostly water and require water to live but we also poop AND pee in water. Makes you think.

"but we also poop AND pee in water."

not those of us that live without plumbing.

Almost everyday now you hear of wildfires spreading. “The largest wildfire on record” for a certain area makes the news and a week later it’s still going, everything is burned down, and somewhere else is a new one just starting to rage. The news flickers on as hurricane season grows and the spectacle of it all continue, with those in the eye of it unable to even seen their plight on the tele as they struggle to connect back to civilization. Such is life these days. It seems to be getting worse, the droughts, the fires, and the storms. Where are the climate anarchist refugees to move?

Sugar in wa-ter.

*Insert poignant Dune quote here.*

The Sun now rose upon the right:
Out of the sea came he,
Still hid in mist, and on the left
Went down into the sea.

And the good south wind still blew behind,
But no sweet bird did follow,
Nor any day for food or play
Came to the mariner's hollo!

And I had done a hellish thing,
And it would work 'em woe:
For all averred, I had killed the bird
That made the breeze to blow.
Ah wretch! said they, the bird to slay,
That made the breeze to blow!

Nor dim nor red, like God's own head,
The glorious Sun uprist:
Then all averred, I had killed the bird
That brought the fog and mist.
'Twas right, said they, such birds to slay,
That bring the fog and mist.

The fair breeze blew, the white foam flew,
The furrow followed free;
We were the first that ever burst
Into that silent sea.

Down dropt the breeze, the sails dropt down,
'Twas sad as sad could be;
And we did speak only to break
The silence of the sea!

All in a hot and copper sky,
The bloody Sun, at noon,
Right up above the mast did stand,
No bigger than the Moon.

Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.

Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.

‘Consequences will be dire’: Chile’s water crisis is reaching breaking point

"Unprecedented drought makes water a national security issue as more than half of Chile’s 19 million population lived in area with ‘severe water scarcity’ by end of 2021

From the Atacama Desert to Patagonia, a 13-year megadrought is straining Chile’s freshwater resources to breaking point."

The $hilean pig state should think about this the next time they use water canon on anarchists.

air > water

- the last air bender

I am an anarch and I fuck in jacuzzi water like our primordial ancestors did because it is the liquid of life, love and fun !
