"Love" in the Metaverse

From https://johnzerzan.net/radio/

Upcoming anti-civ talks. Cooking reduces energy expenditure of chewing; major evolutionary impact. Author-activist-anarchist Allan Antliff is call-in guest (postmodernism, Camas Books, Victoria Anarchist Book Fair). Anarchist actions, book fairs. Smartphones as deadly distraction. U. S. life expectancy declining. "Love" in the Metaverse. Is radical energy returning after 20-something years in U. S.? One call.

Great episode! John and his weekly show are a gift to us all.
Anarchy Radio, Fuck Yeah!

How can you hear the radio with your head so far up John's ass? Bootlicker

Are you so dumb and enraged by envy to not know that radio waves can EASILY travel through organic matter?

Radio waves can certainly travel anywhere, but if your ears are packed with shit you won't be able to receive the waves. Science

Sounds like somebody doesn't know that shit ALSO is organic matter.

Now go chop some wood!

Actually, technically speaking, the ideal poo is one that is totally digested and composed of mineral based molecules no longer having organic enzymes in its mixture. This IS with a diet of unrefined and unprocessed vegan materials.
So yes, poo in ears can be inorganic and stop radio waves. Common sense.

I reject your junk logic "common sense" and anti-fecesism entirely. I urge you to abandon your anti-fecesism with an affirmation of a fecesism that extends towards including organic enzymes AND mineral individuals, as well as radio waves.

Pray to Fauci: "If you don't trust me, you don't trust science." Fauci is science in other words. The truth is outting Fauci and the media which tried for so long to box it in... what, is there 5 media corporations which mediate what the mass man grunt gets to talk about at the bar, water cooler etc? Sadly, JZ bases his show on these same 5 media corps because all those independents are concpiracy theorists! Oh, and the thought dictators never conspire. Civilisation isn't organised; it is organic, right? Science is the New World Order: the New Religion. Trust the science. What's that, mega billionaire NGOs are funding science and it's all wholesome honest science being paid for with no wink wink nudge nudge!

Yes science is the new god, and the heaven is Mars, oxygen masks, anti-viral injections and electric cars.

I don't think it is necessary to agree with what everyone says about everything. I like his show but I also agree with the commenter about the five media corporations. I think ideology can make people think things are wrong that don't fit in their box, which is something that can happen to anyone.

i accidentally listened to the 8/30 episode.

the first caller asks jz about his comments regarding autism. jz's answer is emblematic of a lot of jz's "scholarship" ie, there is hardly any. jz picks a tidbit he thinks bolsters his anti tech point, in this case the (false) increase in cases of autism to mean humans are becoming more machine-like, but he doesn't really question anything about this tidbit.

for instance, does being autistic actually mean one is more machine-like? are cases of autism actually on the rise?

jz says "as society becomes more technological we are forced into that [autistic] mold...." & "i'm not putting down autistics, but you can see on the face of it the machine like responses. "

autism is not new. there hasn't been an increase in cases, but an increase in diagnosis, for several reasons (people are masking less, women can be autistic etc.).

lol, some autistic people like regularity, sure. one can have regularity without being a machine though, in case you hadn't noticed, john. if you need an example i offer the periodicity of the planets. or even the social ritual of saying "hello" to someone. don't lie, we all know that script.

john, you have listened to an outdated assessment of what autism is and how it manifests in a person. the assumptions you make about autism are from the 1950's, please do try to update your pool of knowledge regarding autism and anything else that has happened since 1954, thx.

"there hasn't been an increase in cases, but an increase in diagnosis"

Provide evidence of your assertion.

Here's a mind-blower: There HAS been an increase in cases of autism because there are simply MORE humans. Ta-da!

Now go chop some wood.

alright here's the deal, yes, there are more people so even if the % is unchanged the # goes up, cool dude what a mathematical gotcha! kudos!

the thing is also that more people are diagnosed because more people are aware of the possibility of autism and so are looking for it. whereas previously so-called 'odd' behavior was just seen as quirky and not a 'disorder' now there is a whole-ass name and everything! but even more to my actual point — what are the political implications of separating out particular behaviors for diagnosis rather than seeing them as regular deviations from average?? there have always been people who do things differently, why doesn't jz talk about these implications? why does your precious jz only look to confirm his already existing notions of what is good or bad in the world? why does jz use spurious so-called 'facts' in his work?
why do you defend him from everything as if he were a little baby?

Why don't you call JZ next Tuesday and ask him instead of hiding and complaining like a little baby in the anews comments? If you really want answers... Why does it matter what JZ thinks? What are you hoping to see regarding the "political implications" of autism diagnoses? What does your mom think about this??

Season your wood before burning.

"why does your precious jz only look to confirm his already existing notions of what is good or bad in the world?"

This deserves a special response...

If you believe something to be true why would you not stand by it? Why does your message need to change if you believe it to be correct? If you believe the answer to X is Y then why would you need to tell anyone anything other than Y when X is brought up?

Great thinkers have conviction. They're not trying to appeal to your changing whims.

Wood. Go chop some.

if you are having an issue (no pun intended) with your wood, may we suggest, rather than either seasoning or chopping, merely vigorous fapping until you get relief.

the problem is jz (and you too, it seems) believes in concepts that no longer hold up under scrutiny. the autism discourse is only one area where jz's ideas haven't, apparently, shifted in the past 50 years, despite evidence they are outdated. being convinced by something is not the same as it being true.

[not to mention truth is also a fraught category]

great thinkers should be able to keep current in their field of knowledge. if new evidence doesn't at least give one pause can it be said one is actually thinking?

an anarchist's field of knowledge is potentially all human knowledge, if one is worthy of the appellation.

all JZ has done for the past 30 years is find crap in mainstream media that bolsters his ideology. it's called confirmation bias, and he's an unfortunate example of an intellect wasted.

A friendly reminder to all the blowhard brainlets lurking these comments that the Anarchy Radio live call-in show is tonight. Why don't any of you geniuses who think that John has it all wrong call him up and test your intellectual acumen? Oh right, we all know why..

Or seethe and cope then go chop some wood.

Not much JZ can do about the libidinal dictatorships driving this planet, except maybe trying to harness some personal authenticity and putting it into practice, like chopping wood when he gets cold and not using cars or electricity.

anon 16:35 here. i was friends with JZ for about 25 years, and i warned him about speaking to a shrinking coterie of fans many times. i brought up to him the shortcomings of using jargon (lazy shortcuts) and about relying on mainstream news media, and about confirmation bias. his preference throughout the last few years of our association was to continue to find examples of alienation rather than resistance. the difficulties between us came to a head during Occupy, when he decided that the entire phenomenon was "too leftist" to be relevant, and he severed ties with me because of my involvement with it. so your complaints about my sadness at the waste of his intellect has been communicated with him in person over the course of probably the last 10 years of our friendship. it's not just sour grapes from some know-it-all millennial.
fanboy harder

I live enmeshed within complex intra/outra relationships (pun not intended, oh, which reminds me, nihilist jesus christ JZ is NOT a humorist, omg, the brevity of the intro music was excruciating) which owe there longevity to the sense of fun and humor which accompanied each adventure. Humor goes a long way in alleviating the pangs of hunger, the lot of the primitivist. Thus he failed!

critique is easy, actually doing stuff is hard

media projects technically count as doing stuff but usually, they are just critique with extra steps

effective critique, critique with teeth, critique that can pry open a heretofore unseen doorway out of the absolute horror show of modernity, how is this not also 'doing stuff'?

for myself, looking to ways out / acts of resistance / potential escape routes is a better use of my time than an endless cataloging of the brutality i can already see.

ymmv

lol, your bad faith reading is also hilarious, really.

but for real, on the other other hand, the comparison was critique v media projects. not that that is the actual issue. no one, certainly not i, said that farming or sabotage or media or critique are exactly co-terminous with each other. no one arguing in good faith would make that leap. but it cannot be denied that all are 'doings' in one form or another.

for neither the exaltation nor the devaluation of any particular form of labour!

well for my part, i've been arguing for a decade that there's not nearly enough "anarchist movement" left once you remove the media projects, bookfairs and other forms of spectacle. these things should probably be only some of the limbs and certainly not most of the body AND brain.

this is based on my humble experiences, limited to canada and the US. i started off interested in making anarchist media too and then I realized ... it was over-represented already. too much anarchist media, not enough anarchy! just my opinion...

then again, i greatly appreciate the tireless (and mostly thankless) work that goes in to a lot of those media projects

is what it is! our situation is grim!

[Restored after thecollective deleted it like tyrants that don't like to let people have discussions]:

Hilarious. He was absolutely right about Occupy! That must be a sore spot for you. Imagine all the other things you thought you were right about but disagreed with John on. Time will tell.

what about driving my '68 camarro in the metaverse???
