At 04:30 in the morning of Sunday September 4, 2022, soon before the elections that aimed to elucidate which would be the reigning constitution, anonymous hands decided to stay far away from the ballots, and near sabotage.

A thunderous noise shook the commune of Hualqui, in the Bio Bio Region near the city of Concepción. Specifically in the route that connects Hualqui with Quilacoya.

A Transelec high tension tower was completely toppled, also damaging the towers that were contiguous to it. In spite of the destruction, the power supply was not interrupted in the area.

The unknown saboteurs toppled the tower with explosive charges, four dynamite charges were installed, only 3 exploded. At sunrise police personnel arrived at the scene and noticed not only the damage to the electric infrastructure, but also that a banner was left by the authors of the attentat.

A black banner with white letters claimed the action, signing as “Autonomous Urban Resistance”

First thing in the morning, the government downplayed the events, the Subsecretary of Interior Manuel Monsalve qualified it as a “small incident” that resulted from someone else cutting a tension cable. Moments later, he had to retract those statements in the face of the evidence of the events.

Personnel from the PDI-BIPE came from Santiago to investigate the scene.

The responsibility claim banner says:

“Let's activate sabotage against the extractivist projects in the territories.

Whoever forgets the prisoners, forgets the struggle.

Freedom for Victor Llanquileo and all the mapuche, anarchist, and subversive prisoners, and the prisoners from the revolt

Autonomous Urban Resistance”

There is something really wankerish about using the word attentat instead of attack in your translations.

there is something very wankerish about saying "attentado explosivo" in spanish too, so i guess it was true to the source
