I honestly think that this genre of music is directly responsible for the "prove yourself" mentality that leads a lot of Anarchists to behave like Fascists mobs.
to say that hardcore is responsible for puritanism
is misplacing the issue. christianity is responsible for puritanism. hardcore reflects some christian values. people raised in a christian culture will tend toward christianity regardless of what music they listen to.
Hardcore punk is responsible for a LOT of puritanical radical behavior that permeated the zine scenes and found their way to post secondary campus cultures. As someone more into hip hop and metal culture it's unfortunate that those musical cultures did not have more of an affect on anarchism.
I like some of the music which played a big part in structuring gen x era niche metal starting with thrash(and to some extent NWBHM before it) along with helping late 20th early 21st century anarchism as a whole find some memetic existence but god damn if that culture does not represent a continuation of white puritanism.
It reminds me that wild unconditional passion still exists out there, that ideas cannot be censored, that bodies cannot be placed in a straight jacket, that formal culture is a boring decaying social genre. IT IS GOOD!
NO, THIS IS NOT ME, I LOATH HARDCORE AND SYNTHESIZER BEAT.
AS SIR E SAYS, IT IS A NEGATIVE PURITANICAL REACTIONARY GENRE WHICH CONTRARY TO MY IMPERSONATOR'S OPINION, IS VERY VERY FORMAL IN ITS MESSAGE AND IDEAS.
Their negativity is because the lyrics are all of negating thought and creativity. They are incapable of enjoying a gleeful destructive activity because they are blinded by hate. On the contrary, this classic old metal shines through. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QSZ-0Mr30mU
I don't think Motorhead, DK, Black Sabbath, CRASS, Amebix and Ramones had anything else but an overwhelmingly positive impact on youth subculture! It's just that these subcultres have hollowed out at some point, as they became more mainstream and lost their meaning. Punk hardcore subcultures these days are really just about scenestering, showing off n shit.
Has anyone ever listened to the French emotional hardcore band Ivich? I picked up a vinyl of theirs from the bargain bin and thought that it was pretty good.

I'm honestly not this critical of Hardcore and was just being sort of a kvetch. You can delete this thread if you feel like doing so.

wow, i completely don’t know what you mean, and i like all those musics...
tell how that story goes. what would metal flavored or hip-hop flavored anarchism look vs punk?
