The Activist Mercenary
The Activist Mercenary
What must be determined among ourselves is mostly the responsibility to a situation that is in the present, in reality, in the circumstantial conflict of the now and the acceptance of that responsibility. What is presented here is information pertaining to seeing the radical not just as an agent of change, but an actual agent of the new revolutionary program. That program is rooted in cooperative, democratic, libertarian socialist anarchism. What is on the horizon is a war no one in prepared for but everyone is trying to prepare for. Our enemies don’t exist so much as a compendium of fascist ideologies are what we are to prepare for. It is only individuals that carry out these ideas. What is needed in the future is creative alternatives that provide a new territory, nation, land, regions, occupied autonomous zones, apart from state and corporate powers.
If we provide for ourselves, our seeds, our arms, our soil, land, air, governance structures, currencies, our own subversive economic systems within, around, above, below, and outside the current system then we have the ability to make a real and material edge before the world burns. There are no room for apologists here, just an understanding of our situation. What follows is a quick primer to see the radical as an agent, a radical special forces activist culture, a farmer and warrior. Below is an introduction to a series of skills and abilities to develop to make more cohesive revolutionary movements in America and abroad. Please do further research as this is a primer for strategic and holistic thinking in regards to our situations and geographies that we are to carry out these struggles in.
We start with the individual. What defines a person as indigenous? Our definition here will start with a basic land knowledge, a knowing of the tribes and land-based peoples that inhabit or did inhabit the region, a solidarity and aide to their struggles, and an investigation toward developing decentralized land-based alternatives away from centralized power technologies and economic philosophies. The easiest way to go about starting with this knowledge is to rent a book from the library, start to name the plants, animals, soil, air, watersheds and rivers, all nonhuman communities within your local area, know their habits, the seasons of the land, learn tracking, hunting, wilderness living skills, learn edible plants, and medicinal herbs. The best programs that can be accessed for this are computer research, find a local naturalist program to enroll in, or take classes at the local university. You can also look for local bushcraft, or survival groups, but there is a forewarning for some unholy characters inhabit these groups. Just prepare yourself as an agent and learn to be a part of the landscape and environment you are in. You can also look for primitive skills groups or clubs to enroll in and meet fellow hunters, botanists, herbalists, or tribes people in your area to build relationships with. It wouldn’t hurt to learn permaculture, horticulture and low intensive gardening as well.
The individual, agent of change, whatever you call it also has to have the ability to survive. What is recommended heavily is to enroll in a Russian martial arts school or start to find a way to study it. The art is also known as Systema and is becoming popular among anarchist and activist circles as an alternative for health, self defense, and meditation. The art is descended down from Cossack mountain tribes in Russia and was molded by the USSR under Stalin to develop for their special forces, ie the spetsnaz. The art covers hand to hand, groundwork, breathing, healing, gunwork, knifework, stickwork, and even shovels. The basis for it is to be able to survive in any situation under any stress and to strengthen communities. There is no hierarchy or belts in the art and is built on cooperative drills where people work together similar to aikido. Systema has a lot of potential in aiding revolutionary communities in the future for its adaptability and quick learning methods.
What is an agent if they cannot move through an environment? What is recommended here for natural movement and understanding of spatial dynamics is to find or enroll yourself in a local parkour group. Parkour was developed as a street art from France, the practitioners are known as traceurs. Nowadays it is gaining momentum in militaries worldwide and is a popular street art in many parts of the world. Its effectiveness in moving through an environment is unparalleled as it is gaining notoriety among many countries and communities worldwide. It is also known as freerunning or urban ninja.
When working with group dynamics we need to understand the need for a militant defense. Warriorship is little understood nowadays and its high and mighty time things change. The lovely thing that capitalism offers is the ability to learn skills so long as the money is available. There are a few terms you should probably learn before engaging in this kind of work, mainly words like war contractor, operator, mercenary, and private security and intelligence. There are many schools available to learn different forms of high risk operative training. The kind they get at Blackwater. It’s about time our activists knew these skills We need force on force instructors, military theory teachers, gun instructors, and self-defense instructors. A community can get together and pool money to send an individual to plenty of these trainings to then share what they’ve learned amongst their peers. There are also loads of videos available via torrent and the web about training if you look hard enough in libertarian and survivalist/militia threads, forums, and websites. Be careful though, this could land you in serious trouble, be wary of individuals identifying or tracking your actions. Remember you are not in this for some fascist takeover, you are just becoming an agent to develop the skills for people to be self and community sufficient in defense. We don’t need a military if the people themselves are the military.
In response to our current crisis, the ecological collapse that is to come, we need models that aren’t right-wing fascist models that people tend to fall back on in these instances. This is a call out to all those involved in consensus decision making processes, worker cooperative organizers, occupy movement organizers, to start to build and develop these skills to work in communities to replace the domination based power structures that currently exist. The Zapatistas are a good model to study as well as the Mondragon model in Spain. There are many models to work off of, but it is imperative that a democratic decision making model based upon libertarian and socialistic tendencies is adopted, otherwise, left or right, a state run system will regain movement in the form of despotic governments, private mercenary corporations, or local gangs and warlords.
Now is the time to develop these skills and become the agents of change that the future demands of us. Let our affinity groups evolve and gain the ability to be more effective for a bleak future ahead of us.
The ones who give a shit.
