The Activist Mercenary

The Activist Mercenary

What must be determined among ourselves is mostly the responsibility to a situation that is in the present, in reality, in the circumstantial conflict of the now and the acceptance of that responsibility. What is presented here is information pertaining to seeing the radical not just as an agent of change, but an actual agent of the new revolutionary program. That program is rooted in cooperative, democratic, libertarian socialist anarchism. What is on the horizon is a war no one in prepared for but everyone is trying to prepare for. Our enemies don’t exist so much as a compendium of fascist ideologies are what we are to prepare for. It is only individuals that carry out these ideas. What is needed in the future is creative alternatives that provide a new territory, nation, land, regions, occupied autonomous zones, apart from state and corporate powers.

If we provide for ourselves, our seeds, our arms, our soil, land, air, governance structures, currencies, our own subversive economic systems within, around, above, below, and outside the current system then we have the ability to make a real and material edge before the world burns. There are no room for apologists here, just an understanding of our situation. What follows is a quick primer to see the radical as an agent, a radical special forces activist culture, a farmer and warrior. Below is an introduction to a series of skills and abilities to develop to make more cohesive revolutionary movements in America and abroad. Please do further research as this is a primer for strategic and holistic thinking in regards to our situations and geographies that we are to carry out these struggles in.

We start with the individual. What defines a person as indigenous? Our definition here will start with a basic land knowledge, a knowing of the tribes and land-based peoples that inhabit or did inhabit the region, a solidarity and aide to their struggles, and an investigation toward developing decentralized land-based alternatives away from centralized power technologies and economic philosophies. The easiest way to go about starting with this knowledge is to rent a book from the library, start to name the plants, animals, soil, air, watersheds and rivers, all nonhuman communities within your local area, know their habits, the seasons of the land, learn tracking, hunting, wilderness living skills, learn edible plants, and medicinal herbs. The best programs that can be accessed for this are computer research, find a local naturalist program to enroll in, or take classes at the local university. You can also look for local bushcraft, or survival groups, but there is a forewarning for some unholy characters inhabit these groups. Just prepare yourself as an agent and learn to be a part of the landscape and environment you are in. You can also look for primitive skills groups or clubs to enroll in and meet fellow hunters, botanists, herbalists, or tribes people in your area to build relationships with. It wouldn’t hurt to learn permaculture, horticulture and low intensive gardening as well.

The individual, agent of change, whatever you call it also has to have the ability to survive. What is recommended heavily is to enroll in a Russian martial arts school or start to find a way to study it. The art is also known as Systema and is becoming popular among anarchist and activist circles as an alternative for health, self defense, and meditation. The art is descended down from Cossack mountain tribes in Russia and was molded by the USSR under Stalin to develop for their special forces, ie the spetsnaz. The art covers hand to hand, groundwork, breathing, healing, gunwork, knifework, stickwork, and even shovels. The basis for it is to be able to survive in any situation under any stress and to strengthen communities. There is no hierarchy or belts in the art and is built on cooperative drills where people work together similar to aikido. Systema has a lot of potential in aiding revolutionary communities in the future for its adaptability and quick learning methods.

What is an agent if they cannot move through an environment? What is recommended here for natural movement and understanding of spatial dynamics is to find or enroll yourself in a local parkour group. Parkour was developed as a street art from France, the practitioners are known as traceurs. Nowadays it is gaining momentum in militaries worldwide and is a popular street art in many parts of the world. Its effectiveness in moving through an environment is unparalleled as it is gaining notoriety among many countries and communities worldwide. It is also known as freerunning or urban ninja.

When working with group dynamics we need to understand the need for a militant defense. Warriorship is little understood nowadays and its high and mighty time things change. The lovely thing that capitalism offers is the ability to learn skills so long as the money is available. There are a few terms you should probably learn before engaging in this kind of work, mainly words like war contractor, operator, mercenary, and private security and intelligence. There are many schools available to learn different forms of high risk operative training. The kind they get at Blackwater. It’s about time our activists knew these skills We need force on force instructors, military theory teachers, gun instructors, and self-defense instructors. A community can get together and pool money to send an individual to plenty of these trainings to then share what they’ve learned amongst their peers. There are also loads of videos available via torrent and the web about training if you look hard enough in libertarian and survivalist/militia threads, forums, and websites. Be careful though, this could land you in serious trouble, be wary of individuals identifying or tracking your actions. Remember you are not in this for some fascist takeover, you are just becoming an agent to develop the skills for people to be self and community sufficient in defense. We don’t need a military if the people themselves are the military.

In response to our current crisis, the ecological collapse that is to come, we need models that aren’t right-wing fascist models that people tend to fall back on in these instances. This is a call out to all those involved in consensus decision making processes, worker cooperative organizers, occupy movement organizers, to start to build and develop these skills to work in communities to replace the domination based power structures that currently exist. The Zapatistas are a good model to study as well as the Mondragon model in Spain. There are many models to work off of, but it is imperative that a democratic decision making model based upon libertarian and socialistic tendencies is adopted, otherwise, left or right, a state run system will regain movement in the form of despotic governments, private mercenary corporations, or local gangs and warlords.

Now is the time to develop these skills and become the agents of change that the future demands of us. Let our affinity groups evolve and gain the ability to be more effective for a bleak future ahead of us.

In solidarity,
The ones who give a shit.

Apes...together...strong !!!

oh the irony. feel better about yourself? heres a hug. can we continue with the discussion or are you lining up another obnoxious jab?

I've already begun this same work, perhaps it's intuitive once your analysis develops to a certain point.
May our paths cross because of it and we'll recognize each other through it.

Activist quality.

really? of course this is just a troll, i hope

you would "hope" loser

“What defines a person as indigenous? It is Western culture acculturated people who worship ‘knowledge’ and not indigenous persons. Nature is not a collection of ‘knowledgeable organisms’, it is a relational web-of-life, and interdependent inhabitant-habitat dynamic.

if a mixed gender group of teenagers ‘read a book’ on sexual intercourse, they will assimilate ‘knowledge’ on how to have sex, and they can use this knowledge to ‘do it’.

if a mixed gender group of teenagers gets high and naked, they may ‘write a book’ on sex. As Nietzsche says, “there are no facts, only interpretations.”

if you drop crumbs for hungry animals, they will follow the trail of crumbs. if the seasons deliver exposures of lichens for reindeer ever farther north in the progressing summer and then gradually retreating south in the fall and winter, and then again north in the summer and so on and so forth in repetitive cycles that some call ‘migrations’, ... academic institutions will fund research to determine ‘how the reindeer KNOW when to migrate’ and how do they know how to sustain movement in harmony with the seasons, ... and how do they choose their routes? someone following a trail of crumbs does not need to ‘know’ anything.

the habitat itself, by the manner it uncovers tender morsels of food, plays the pied piper to the reindeer.

oops, ... Western science does not accept outside-inward influence. the only acceptable answer for ‘migration’ is one that conforms with Western science’s model of man, organism and organization, as ‘independent reason-driven system’ that lives in an absolute space; a ‘habitat’ that is independent of the ‘inhabitants’ that reside within it.

therefore, the only way to explain ‘migration’ is in term of internal knowledge residing within the organism that is inside-outwardly directing its behaviour. sure.

if you want to understand an ‘indigenous person’, you have to let go of this notion that an individual’s behaviour is driven inside-outwardly by his internal ‘knowledge and purpose’. this is a load of crap, but if you are in academia and science and in public office, you have to pretend that this is true because it is 'the accepted truth', ... and if you overtly go against it, you will be unceremoniously booted out.

you have probably heard that scientists are continuing to do research on how fish and birds KNOW when and how to migrate, postulating complex star-based navigation etc.

don’t talk too openly about the natural relational space they are in seducing them to ‘follow a trail of crumbs’, as this may have a negative effect on research funding.

the ‘indigenous person’ is not ‘knowledge-directed’. like the teenagers that got high and naked, they can write the books without ever having had to read them.

So … some books on local plant life, socializing with hippies and hiking in the woods makes me an "indigenous person" according to you?

Very nice

But sometimes still felt like one of Blackwater's "security contractors" when asked to back up someone facing assault by right-wing counterprotesters. I've been called on for this from time to time over the years because those who know me in person know that I can handle myself.

Every time, I focus on deterring and driving off threats. It is exceptionally rare to have to fight when you make it plain that you have the training and the experience to defeat the intending attackers. Sometimes that fails and you have to mix it up, but not all that often. When it does, it keeps your training fresh with a dose of real-world experience.

I've also seen this work at the large-unit level. Years ago, the "Gathering of Eagles" assaulted antiwar protesters at Memorial Bridge, a dangerous chokepoint on the March 19, 2007 march on the Pentagon. We were expecting trouble. The right-wingers lashed out with flagpoles and beat people with them. They were especially violent towards Code Pink. Then came the combined SDS/Anarchist block with Roman Army style tower shields up front. All of the sudden the right wingers were on their best behavior and the assaults stopped!

We DO have some excellent force on force trainers in the anarchist community, some of them with considerable MMA experience. I learned some basic Judo moves concerning tackles, chokeholds, and counters to both from a good friend who holds MMA trainings and has won multiple championships. I learned some Karate in a local dojo as a teenager, and defending myself and friends around me from packs of gaybashers taught me much about field expedient weaponry, both using it and defending against it. Over time you learn to automatically meet attack A with counter B, attack C with counter D, and so on. Beware of becoming predictable though if you must fight the same enemies repeatedly.

One of the best intelligence services in the world might be the people who do the research component of the Huntingdon Life Sciences campaign. In the process they had to learn so much about how capitalism physically and logically operates they could probably fund the campaign by trading on Wall Street if they wanted to. Also look at the repeat sucesses of animal activists in inserting camera-wielding undercover agents into vivisection labs and slaughterhouses. Even when this is expected, animal torture industries have had so little ablity to counter it that several states have criminalized photographing animal abuse operations, laws known as "ag-gag" law to stop publication of the evidence. Whatever you think of animal rights, this shows the professionalism and seriousness of the "intelligence service" run by animal activist groups. Those slaughterhouses and vivisection labs have a "snitch problem" to rival our own!

I've also seen black bloc tactical trainings totally transform the outcome of a battle. Back in 2003, at an antiwar protest that took place during the IMF meetings, the police were brutal and beat a lot of people. The next day the Black Bloc served as a security element to keep the cops off an immigrant protest, and the cops thought better of starting a second round against a better-prepared defensive element. A week before the next time we went out we had some serious group trainings. When we put it ito use, the cops put all their assets up close in an attempt to prevent any breakway marches. All those riot cops stopped the first attempt but the second attempt powered through them before they could react, then put on speed and charged all the way to the World Bank without seeing one more cop and stormed the undefended building.

As a community, however, we don't spend nearly enough time at the gym, the dojo, and the range. Take care of your body and your equipment, because they take care of you! Never go into battle with any piece of equipment that is likely to break and leave you vulnerable, stay ahead of this by learning to take care of your shit yourself.
