Call for autonomous organizing against the end of the world

The situation: our world, the only home we will ever have, is being hurled into the abyss by imbeciles and nihilists. A 72-degree Christmas and a Trump presidency; lynching and deportation of our neighbors by police and ICE; pipelines desecrate the dead, while poisoning the living; billions of selfies, while 200 species go extinct every day; the feeling of powerlessness enforced by governments everywhere and the management of each detail down to the smallest part of our hearts: everything calls for this to end.

What’s necessary: that a new historical force rise up to face our situation; that we organize to make a better, livable existence on this earth and put an end to the reign of those who would continue this catastrophic course.

Our ethos: a spirit that stands against the end of the world — revolutionary and driven by the desire to fight, carrying the recognition that power needs to be built and organized. Committed to strategy, not ideology, we have a faith in practice, of an openness to the world, of being moved by the event, not criticality that puts one outside of every situation. We believe in freedom and know we cannot have it if we simply react and define ourselves against the forces that seek to dominate us: we must make ourselves a power in our own right.

The strategy: build autonomy and revolution from the ground up by establishing the infrastructural and organizational basis for another way of life. We must immediately and patiently grow our capacity and power — starting from our reality, what we want, what we need, and where we want to go. Everything we do, each piece, each practice, must be part of a broader strategy of giving ourselves the means to be more powerful and to face up to the need for another way of life, reducing our dependencies and increasing our power over our own networks of food, health, transportation, shelter, or communications. As we see it, a historical force capable of confronting capitalism, government, and catastrophe has to be materially capable of living through their end, of breaking their blackmail of enforced dependence. That’s why instead of mourning this world, we’ve begun getting organized together, to help such a force come into existence, to be a part of it, to do what we think is called for in our single existence on earth.

A tentative vision: a powerful, autonomous territory takes shape between a multiplicity of spaces and infrastructures –hubs, farms, clinics, hacklabs, cafes, workshops, print labs, gyms, mesh net- works, foundries, and forests— in neighborhoods and small towns from Bloomington to Chicago, to Evansville. Thousands of individual and organizational relationships are forged as fighters/ builders/growers young and old find each other, experiencing a solidarity born of combining their capacities –skills, knowledges, resources, and passions— along shared trajectories such that they will become capable of actually supporting an exit from our current, untenable way of life. In short, a territory full of all kinds of forms of life, rich in diversity yet united in the belief that this fight is the only dignified and just response to our time. And who over time have developed the means to take care of themselves and others in a growing and deepening way. As the Zapatistas say, we are “walking while questioning.”

Let’s find each other, and get going!

historical force

Already on it, see you in the real world where things actually matter!

Autonomists, like Council-Communists & Situationists before them, tried to steal the good name of anarchism.
They tried and died

Yes, but this time around don't let the informal leaders become eminences, and also those related shitty elitist gimmicks, okay?

honeypot, from the way of writing, this is written by a spy who studied anarchists.

Nope!

"rebelll" is severely mentally ill, don't mind them

This was done before eight years ago (and has been done before that, and done before that, etc etc). Think of it like forming an international conspiracy.

-Form crews, form a gang, form a tribe, form a mafia.
-Research land/cheap housing property. Do the opposite of what real estate speculators are doing. Instead of using maps that show spikes in rent/real estate value over the past five years across the country, look at maps that show areas of high poverty or that have had an increase in poverty in different parts of the country. (Hint, property is currently extremely cheap in Cleveland and Buffalo).
-This is a game, play to win.
-Land/housing is power, the power to choose your affinities and the people on your team/faction in the game.
-Remember your tribe; fight for your team, your faction, your clan. Don't worry about anyone else.
-Alliances are possible everywhere.

The individual, the person, the human being is irrelevant. Join and serve your local mafia. You are someone through the many, through the COMMUNE-NITY.

Us vs Them. WE vs HIM!!!

Breed and serve.

Rince and repeat.

Mafia's, clans, tribes, crews, etc only survive and thrive in the long run if they are mutually beneficial, if there is a non-coercive incentive to be a part of them and contribute to them. Especially if the culture, the way of living, the form of life of them is more desirable then what is being offered by "society".

The point being, you are always free to leave and either assimilate into "society" or form your own group. But you'll always find that outside your group (and this is even apparent if you start your own biological family), your clan, tribe, mafia, whatever, those others are less important, while the people in your group are intensely important, even crucial to your way of life.

Wolves have packs, humans have tribes.

If you want to win, play the game. We need a multitude, a plethora of new tribes, forms of life, etc.

That troll you responded to is your online counterpart, everyone thinks the debate is between "leftists" and various individualist tendencies but it's actually about goals; there's 2.

Actual anarchists are here to discuss means to achieve their goals which almost always involves the stuff that you're talking about, the other type are here to play stupid little ego games where they try to sound more clever than anyone else. They have no actual method at all, just their attempts to out troll and snark each other.

I was not exactly trolling, that was just a crude satire on the tendency that clans have to be crushing people's individuality while always believing themselves to be the "good guys", or the vanguard while they usually are a bunch of weaklings and cowards who hardly can follow their will on their own, being used to bend to the morals and order of the herd. This may be constructive when it comes to be doing music, cooking, or other life-form activity together, but this always gets to take an ugly turn when slander politics and authoritarian gimmicks come to the surface.

Also, you'll never, ever be forgiven for your exclusion/inclusion routines when they are informal and up to the internal masters to enable these (read up the Greek etymology of "hierarchy", it's quite revealing).

That's literally the definition of trolling and clearly somebody hurt you. Now you have a complex, my sympathies!

The tendency is one of the most disgusting within society. It inspires the 'right' to exploit, take-advantage-of, abuse, manipulate, cheat, swindle, or enslave. One of its roots is found in religious traditions which specifically make allowances for slavery and the exploitation of an out-group.

And what about when this terrible tendency is being put at the center of a milieu and its anti-oppression politics. We're fucked no?

Therefore it is necessary to fight clan (informal) hierarchies at the same time as we fight the "external" system of oppression, as they end up serving the same regime at the end of the day, and "internal" element just becomes another reification of society. Actually I'd be more into turning the hierarchy inside out, i.e. make it formally and openly codified, as to chastise it away from its nefarious interpersonal effects. Tho I'd prefer to avoid it all.

Ignorant dumbfucks are scared of codified hierarchies as they're too obviously authoritarian, where they'll NEVER be looking into how the hierarchies they support on a daily basis are several times more damaging, and inhibiting to rebellion.

Actually I'd be more into turning the hierarchy inside out, i.e. make it formally and openly codified, as to chastise it away from its nefarious interpersonal effects. Tho I'd prefer to avoid it all.

To your first point: I do not know. Speaking loosely here—I don't think I'm trying to be explicitly anti-segregation or anti-hierarchy. I'm more interested in eliminating double-standards; the will to treat out-groups as lesser, as scum-of-the-earth.

We can have formal and informal groups (clans as you say). We can have, and will inevitably have, hierarchies or asymmetries within & without those groups. But there needs to be a respect for those outside of the group/band/clan/tribe/religion/race/territory. This may have a side benefit of not feigning nor forcing inclusion within established groups.

How these groups are maintained is the critical detail. Are they based upon positive-cohesion (my made-up term) principals such as free association, voluntarism, inspiration, security, & passion? Or are they based upon negative-cohesion (my other made-up term) principals such as trauma, blackmail, coercion, need, & fear? My comment below titled "Group cohesion" has a little more on the this. My hypothesis is that negative-cohesion groups cannot live beside other groups in harmony & non-interference. They will tend toward the in-group/out-group double standard, because that double standard already exists *within* their own group.

Now consider a potential benefit of civilization's rise. Civilization destroyed ancient cultures of negative-cohesion. (Perhaps some were based upon positive-cohesion, but I'm skeptical in a noble-savage/garden-of-eden fallacy sort of way.) Civilization replaced them with new and different forms of cohesion both negative & positive.

If there are any unique benefits to living in our current era, they may be historical hindsight and the double-edged sword of technology. We can infer the ancient goods & evils which were destroyed, and survey the modern ones, hopefully drawing out the best while expunging the worst.

Civilization's fall, what some call decadence or degeneracy, could lead to a diaspora of new tribes/nations who are formed by internal-positive-cohesion and thus devoid of double standards held toward outsiders i.e. wills toward conflict & enslavement. A human species composed of diverse tribes with varying degrees of exclusivity/insularity, each operating internally via positive-cohesion, is the ideal I'm trying to describe.

This is the battle. It is for me a much more interesting way to frame the battlefield than capitalism vs communism, nationalism vs globalism, fascism vs antifascim, etc. I believe positive-cohesion groups are currently a minority. If there is fractal symmetry within human populations, as in other realms of the universe, then humanity currently manifests a meta-negative-cohesion group—and the horrifying results of endless war, insecurity, debt, poverty & enslavement logically follow on the macro scale. Because these horrific conditions exist at the micro-scale within the prolific negative-cohesion groups which currently abound with power & influence. They see nothing wrong with the meta-effects. It is normal to them, because the have already suffered it themselves.

I agree with your other comments regarding 'internal reifications of society', and 'turning hierarchy inside out.' On the latter- I believe that is the appeal of codes, law, constitutions, 'group agreements,' etc., but often subverted in practice.

Just like with any other authoritarian relationship... if you don't like it, you just have to change the channel, right? Forget about breaking hierarchies and changing the way people relate to each other, coz "human nature" n shit. We'll always need someone to show us the North because we're weak bigots who can't learn anything.

"Mafia's, clans, tribes, crews, etc only survive and thrive in the long run if they are mutually beneficial, if there is a non-coercive incentive to be a part of them and contribute to them."

I think history & living memory paint a different picture. There are many horrific ways to bind group cohesion—trauma & abuse, blackmail, rape, shame, manipulation & mind control, slavery & selective breeding. On a smaller scale consider abusive couple dynamics, or the ways individuals can abuse themselves. Even those couples, or those individuals, can survive for many, many decades in a state of loveless, creationless, cancerous decay.

Some of the longest lasting, most resilient institutions exist as such because they are the opposite of "mutually-beneficial" and "non-coercive." Fraternal organizations, military hazing, secret societies, the catholic hierarchy, hasidic communities, perhaps amish & similar religious enclaves, fundamentalist Islam, some primitive/tribal cultures, western public education, political hierarchy, the list could go on. It is bleak and saddening to consider how prolific these 'dark arts' are in the world. Some of it is blind repetition—regurgitation of immortal memes. Some of it is the conscious design & perpetration of evil people. Humanity has not yet emerged from the dark ages.

I hope anarchy & things-anarchic are but one path upon which humanity may escape these horrific traditions while stripping itself of sociopaths. But many people, including anarchists, hold on to old ways.

Well yes, double-standards are the dominant issue I guess. And the codification of hierarchies won't help in any way against those.

"This is the battle. It is for me a much more interesting way to frame the battlefield than capitalism vs communism, nationalism vs globalism, fascism vs antifascim, etc. I believe positive-cohesion groups are currently a minority."

I think you should be a bit more cautious here, as there are plenty of "positive-cohesion" groups and association in this society that are supportive to the social order, just fueled by this continuous need felt by random atomized people to be part of some, or any, community. Even the neofacists (or "alt-right") nowadays are dangerously using these schemes. None of them really makes sense in what they do, or provides with solutions that really answer people's needs for meaningful bonds, where the meaning is replaced by semantic forgeries, like the "race", the "nation", and other identity politics, Right and Left.

The local crypto-fascist, populist neo-Christian groups I've seen developing locally, right under under the radar of antifascists and progressive Leftists are doing exactly that, answering to the need for community with a false, imagined notion of an organic community, able to overcome the neoliberal, "cultural marxist", cosmopolitan non-White urban world. But these scumbags won't achieve much since they're just a few days away from collapsing due to their vile stupidity, violence, ignorance, and obvious hateful prejudice (an externally-negative form of cohesion, I guess).

So there's something we can bring in terms of community that's concretely meaningful in a revolutionary sense, that provides with direct and rationa. answers to the daily alienation of people. But the local anarcho gangs I've met don't appear to have been much motivated into bringing any revolutionary relationship that can make it possible, at least not beyond the walls of their private spaces. Of course, and this was my main point too, this should be made of positive-cohesion, essentially... but it's also 80% about how and through what rationale it's being done, and what direction it proposes to those interested.

"Some of the longest lasting, most resilient institutions exist as such because they are the opposite of "mutually-beneficial" and "non-coercive." "

Not all of these are like this. Rosicrucians, Jesuits and Benedictine and Franciscan monks were very focused on positive cohesion, and their internal corruption whatever it has been -if it was an issue- never impeded on their productive dynamics. But these are only Western societies... the Chinese also had their share of anarchistic stateless secret or half-secret societies that did well. You also got the sects rooted in hinduism that did some good stuff, especially the buddhists. Not everything in the politics and structure of religious groups is despicable. It's mostly when they get involved into power and business through entryism. All the societies and sect who became catalysts for "pure evil", like several masonic lodges, Templar orders, Opus Dei, Scientology, as well as the myriad of deeply-fucked up Protestant churches, have all been major stakeholders in State affairs (from local to national to international) and related capital accumulation. This was the plan of the former Illuminati to infiltrate and subvert those societies, with the aim of taking down the authoritarian society as a whole. But they've proven this kind of elitist praxis to be a failure.

Better be creating healthy & empowering relations at grassroots level.

"-This is a game, play to win."

That I oppose with...

"Winning by not playing"

- Lao Tse

So does name-dropping Lao Tse make you feel better about advocating complacency, apathy and cowardice? Cause that totally doesn't work for me. I'm too bad at self-deception.

Well it may be understood as such, but I rather understand it as a "tabula rasa" way of non-playing, rather than just not being there to play.

You know... like overthrowing the board, so that there can be no winning, and no losing.

Furthermore, "Capital" is the only game around here. Play to win!

and have you forgotten the context of this discussion? We're talking about regular people trying to avert some pretty significant political and environmental catastrophes by working together against dominant institutions.

Which is exactly what hierarchical herd politics render more difficult, placing their own politics at the self-service of group cohesion and stability before the greater coal of abolishing the oppression and destruction they're subjected to.

Yeah I suppose but that's just a paper-thin straw-man and you have no actual point beyond trying to sound clever. Who the fuck is advocating "hierarchical herd politics"?

-Bartleby the Scrivener

Such a strange way to spend your time... If you have no interest in the hypothesis of this call-out, fine. Do whatever else suits your fancy, or do nothing. We're anarchists so obviously do whatever you want, including nothing. But spending a bunch of your energy proselytizing for inertia, solitude and smug, sanctimonious complacency? That's just … suspicious.

Either you're trying to project and make yourself feel better/superior, or worse, you're floating a counter-insurgency narrative of futility. Perhaps too much time on social media turns critique in to a pavlovian response? Why should anyone care what you think until you've accomplished something significant yourself?

That's senseless of you. How can you tell I didn't accomplish anything significant? What do you know about me?

I did a lot of bold anarchist stuff over the last 10 yerars or so but have fell back to a contemplative stance due to my clashes and tragedies with the radical/anarchist milieus here and abroad, where I ended with the feeling that I've done so much for absolutely nothing, which I find may be the worst existential insult I can get... that no matter the good I manage or attempt to do I'll be betrayed, slandered and purged by a bunch of control freak liars and recuperators that dominate over the "crews" and are supposedly "comrades", "accomplices" or friends.

So unless YOUR powerful, resourceful crew(s) manage to go in the outside world out of their echo chambers to achieve something I (and other forever alones like me) relate to, with what they got, that can help build or rebuild ties, shut the fuck up and especially don't tell me what to do. Because on the pragmatic side of things, you gregarian types have been little else than wanking a lot lately... on your own or others riot porn.

I don't know if you did or not but you certainly got a bit defensive. I won't be shutting up any time soon but your obvious charm might have something to do with why you got "purged".

Yes, the fault HAS to be on the atomized individual. Always.

Nope, not always. More of a where-there's-smoke-there's-a-fire bit of reasoning. This person can keep blaming everyone else and snarking away about how stupid "the herd" is until the stars burn out for all I care.

Associating valid criticism to "blame" or faulting says a lot about your herd mentality in itself. You're the reason why anarchy never really took a foot into the social reality in NA... because you and your buddies are a bunch of deeply insecure fluffies who simply can't go have a walk alone in the world outside to see and experience what it's made of.
