Migs Takes Non-Cooperating Plea Deal, Receives 3-Year Sentence

Yesterday, Mark Neiweem (“Migs”) accepted a non-cooperating plea deal in Cook County Court to felony charges brought on by interactions with undercover Chicago police officers who had infiltrated activist groups prior to last May's NATO protests. Migs pleaded guilty to a probation violation charge from a previous felony conviction and to solicitation and attempted possession of an explosive or incendiary device.

Having spent more than 300 continuous days in the appalling conditions of Cook County Jail while awaiting trial, Migs will now serve out the remainder of a 3-year sentence in a state prison. He is expected to receive credit for time served and other reductions in the duration of his incarceration for good behavior.

Migs and the other defendants in the NATO 5 were all targeted by the same undercover Chicago cops, knows as “Mo” and “Gloves,” because of their perceived politics and associations. Last November, Sebastian Senakiewicz (“Sabi”) took a non-cooperating plea deal to a charge of falsely making a terrorist threat and is currently serving his 4-month boot camp sentence, after which he is expected to be deported to his native Poland. The NATO 3—Brent Betterly, Brian Jacob Church, Jared Chase—are all facing conspiracy and terrorism charges. Their recent constitutionality challenge to the terrorism charges was denied by the judge, although they may have the opportunity to raise this challenge again at trial. Their trial is currently scheduled for mid-September of this year.

Legal support funds for all the prisoners are still urgently needed. In addition to commissary funds, the NATO 3's trial expenses are estimated to cost at least $20,000. Supporters around the world can host events and actions for the International Week of Solidarity with the NATO 5 from May 16-21 (https://nato5support.wordpress.com/international-week-of-solidarity-with...). Contact info for the defendants is also available on the support website.

I haven't been able to find out what the actual evidence presented against the other three is. Has anyone seen this? Has it even been released?

surely you've looked through all the resources available @ http://nato5support.wordpress.com/ ? Here's their indictment http://nato5support.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/nato3_indictment.pdf

"attempted possession"... wow, I imagine that the burden of proof their for the D.A. is even more non-existent than normal.

This is the same Migs that has been called out numerous times for admittedly sitting down and talking to the FBI, right?

Chicago anarchists are really good at finding the traitors in their midst.

I don't know, is it? Can you offer proof or are you just trying to create mistrust between us?

I believe so. I believe it is also the same migs that got the shit beat out of him in prison by guards. Also of note is his intention to rat out fascists to the FBI, although he likely ratted out comrades too. These are generally considered factual informations about this situation. What can I say, things aren't always black and white.

sho you rite.

Name one comrade jailed because of anything he did, or did not say. Guy seems like a very questionable character on honesty, etc., but when given a chance to testify against other people in a meaningful way in court, he chose to give up years of his life (initially potentially decades) to not assist the state. So I guess where I'm at is be watchful and discrete when he's out, support him while he's in prison for being an anarchist.

Snitchjacketing is serious. I have not heard a single person who openly said "I was there in the room when he said that" about his alleged admittance to working with the feds. I'll be the first to admit that migs has shit security culture and can't keep a secret worth a crap. For that reason, I won't work with him when he gets out. If he makes you uncomfortable, don't work with him. If you feel you must warn others, warn them about his lack of security culture. Don't doctor up some rumor involving special agents Ham and Bacon.

read that when this whole thing first came out. Most of what I claim comes out of this document.

Where is the evidence? He told others face-to-face he was working with the FBI, what the fuck else do you need?

MIGS was transferred to Stateville Correctional Center. Send him a card or letter:

This dude isn't BELIEVED to have sat down and spoke with the FBI, he told a very close mutual friend that he did. This was immediately after one of the times he sat down with them. Both south side ARA and the Chicago ABC can speak to this directly.

I'm sorry, I don't know who you are and I have no reason to take what you say as gospel. Just because someone you trust who trusts someone else who trusts someone else says Migs did or said whatever means NOTHING to me.

If he's a snitch, why's he being prosecuted for a felony? That's the deepest cover I ever heard of.

O rly have you heard of this thing called "the green scare?"

It is irresponsible to continue to perpetuate rumors without a paper trail. Bad security culture does not equate a snitch. Cops & Feds
infiltrated the Black Panthers and AIM to spread such snitch jacketing rumors to create mistrust and division between people, and ultimately undermine
those groups. Would it be equally fair to call everyone a cop, fed, informant or provocateur who spreads rumors without providing any evidence?
Many in Chicago who have supported NATO defendants have attempted to locate people who have had a direct experience
that would point to MIgs being a snitch, and have only encountered vitriolic rumors, and anger if you don't believe them. Many in the anarchist
community in Chicago have not handled this responsibly. The assumptions made in some of these posts are not responsible either. If you don't
want to work with him, don't. If you feel there is enough compelling circumstances to warn your affinity group or circles, fine. But putting public information out based on rumors and no one willing to substantiate them, (and yes ABC and ARA have not done so) then please stop. And these groups have done mostly nothing to support the other defendants whom they don't claim are snitches, which they should really examine as a failure. They
are more interested, it seems, in sntich jacketing, then in doing actual prisoner support work.

^ sounds like a newer occupy kid who doesn't know what they fuck they are talking about.

Fuck off cop.

Isn't it widely accepted that chicago anarchists need to get their anarcho scene bullshit together? Just because their not a 5th level transgender with an off and on again heroin habit who wrote an article for profane existence in the 90s doesn't mean they are a snitch.

Get your shit together chicago.

yo chico, did you say Razor? Razor Ramon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbkth_InQ_o

Again, http://www.scribd.com/doc/57337118/migs

People should also probably take issue with the fact that Migs takes his name from Multiple Migs, a character from The Silence of the Lambs that sexually assaults woman for the hell of it. Just sayin'.

I'm not a kid and not an occupier, and have been part of some kick ass radical communities (that is, until I moved to Chicago.) Ya'all have
some serious shit to work on here from what I can see. Is condescension part of your nonhierarchical, anti-authoritarian, politics? Or just
part of patriarchy?

This has been the response from many anarchists I have met here. He's a snitch. Believe it without credible proof, don't question it or ask for some substantiation, or we'll condemn and ostracize you too for questioning the pack mentality. Look, when you have something to say besides some blanket dismissal because you couldn't come up with anything intelligible in response to the points raised, please do let us know...
