Political Prisoner Birthday Poster For March 2013 Is Now Available

From Prison Books

Hello Friends and Comrades,

Here is the political prisoner birthday poster for March. As always, please post this poster publicly and/or use it to start a card writing night of your own. We’re still experimenting with the format a little, so this month is also a double sided 11×17 that can also be used as a poster to promote your local letter writing night.

Every year Internationalist Books and Community Center - the bookstore that sponsors our Prison Books collective - gives out the Bob Sheldon Award. They do this in honor of Bob Sheldon, who founded Internationalist Books in 1981 and ran it until he was murdered in 1991. They used the 2013 award to recognize the many bold organizers inside the prisons of North Carolina, saying "This year, we choose to honor the bravery and resilience of people engaged in struggle against some of the most crushing odds in our society – the violence and captivity of the state." Here their full statement.

Matt Duran and Katherine “Kteeo” Olejnik have been released from the Sea-Tac Federal Detention Center where they spent the last five months for refusing to testify before a Seattle grand jury investigating the anarchist movement . A third resister, Maddy Pfeiffer, remains in prison, but has been moved from solitary confinement to the general population. More info can be found here.

Albert Woodfox of the Angola 3 has had his conviction overturned for a third time. The State is now expected to appeal the ruling to the 5th Circuit. Please send him a note to congratulate him while he waits to see how this plays out.

Lorenzo Komboa Ervin has just had a summons issued for his arrest. He is the author of Anarchism and the Black Revolution and the co-founder of the Black Autonomy Federation, whose chapter in Memphis has organized several protests against police brutality and made the national call for the upcoming Anti-Klan protest. Read more about and participate in the pressure campaign to get the police off his back.

Tanner Long was just convicted and sentenced to six months for $120,000 dollars worth of sabotage at a frack well site in PA. Please write him a letter of encouragement.

Destroying surveillance cameras has become an exciting new trend sweeping the globe! There have been articles written by mainstream journalists covering all of the anonymous communiques and exciting videos. Someone even made a downloadable poster. What a healthy reaction to the ever increasing panopticon!

Here is a link to the latest Political Prisoner/Prisoner Of War every-other week update by the NYC-Anarchist Black Cross. There are lots of good updates on many political prisoners.

Lastly, we want to ask that if you're not already financially committed to a different anti-prison effort please consider helping us by becoming a monthly sustainer of our work or making a one-time donation. Your generosity not only feeds our work, it is a part of it. Pooling resources is resistance in action. We will continue to provide resources like this and others to help enable prisoners to self-educate, self-organize, and challenge the roots of their conditions.

Every cage? I thought you just wanted to free "Political Prisoners."

um....no. IGTT 2/10. Doing some projects with pol prisoners specifically in mind doesnt mean one doesnt hate all prisons etc. Most of the things this group is affiliated with interact with all kinds of social prisoners; this monthly poster series is probably one of the only things thats specific to known political prisoners...

^^^^^^no one saw my comment last time. I'll link to it because I'm a very important commenter

Thanks for the comment. I'm usually pretty modest but I appreciate the feedback. I'll make sure to link to this comment for the next Chapel Hill Prison Books Collective post.

Thank God!

Thank God For The Trolls!

Only point 2 is real.

censorship!

I really hate trolls but then again I also feel like trolling this website myself because it's not making any progress anyway. We're not going in the the right direction. We're not even going in the wrong direction. We're just going no where. At least if we were driving the wrong way off the road, someone could grab the steering wheel but the car isn't even moving. The ignition is always on though. Hahahahahahahaha!

When are we gona get it together.

What The Fuck. I can't believe they have a swastika on this months poster. I get that it's "anti-nazi" sort of, but you just can't go around reproducing swastikas. Not cool,

the nazis don't have a monopoly on swastikas

please be nice to swastikas

Yeah, let's reclaim the swastika!!!!! All power to the people.

zinelibrary is down. here is a link to this month's poster.
