Last year saw the first tentative efforts to restart physical anarchist bookfairs amid the Covid crisis, with some success in places like Bradford, London, Manchester and even Stonehenge, and this year it looks like the revival is in full swing.

The eviction of the winter shelter on Gray’s Inn Road on April 7th and 2 other longer-lasting squats in London have lead to approximately 5 more locations being opened and brought back into use by houseless and precarious persons to provide food, clothes and shelter within our community. The disused buildings were occupied and activated by mixed collectives of former rough sleepers, anarchists from the NFA Queer Punx, Amsterdam-based Anarcha-Feminist Group, and members of Resist Anti-Trespass.

Today, I’m very excited to share a conversation with you that I had with Peter Gelderloos, author of the new book The Solutions Are Already Here, available now through Pluto Press. Peter and I talk about why “climate change” doesn’t quite capture the urgency of ecological catastrophe, why a fixation on “fossil fuels” is a strategic error, the kinship relations that inform our intricate and intimate connections to all living critters and the planet itself, indigenous wisdom and situated knowledges, and a whole helluva lot more.

Fire Ant is a quarterly publication focused on spreading the words of anarchist prisoners and generating material solidarity for our imprisoned friends. Begun as a collaboration between anarchist prisoners and anarchists in Maine, Fire Ant seeks to raise material aid for anarchist prisoners while fostering communication between anarchists on both sides of the walls. Issue #12 features an update from Sean Swain, Michael Kimble on Black history and his parole hearing, letters and essays from Thomas Meyer-Falk, and a letter from Comrade Z.

Many could be forgiven for thinking it was a belated April Fools prank when, at the beginning of the month, Freedom Press released a statement reading that close to their premises in Whitechapel and out with their knowledge, the colossal Hilton hotel group had opened an upmarket cocktail bar bearing the name ‘Freedom Café’. Marketed towards “independent thinkers and coffee drinkers”, in true anti-consumerist fashion, the bar sells £14 cocktails named after book titles from the publishing house. Their menu comes in the style of an old pamphlet titled “Anarchist Weekly” and references the historic founding of the publishing house. Readers are enticed inside to find “anarchy, coffee, drinks, and comfort food”. Believe it or not, this appears not to be a joke.
Lecce, Italy: 21st/22nd May,2022
We are fighting for an antiauthoritarian idea, without governments, bosses or exploitation, an idea of freedom that spreads its beauty everywhere propagating its reflection beyond all borders removing enclosures, constraints and submission. Freedom so offended, forever denied by those who want to control everyone’s life in order to exploit it more. If our times are increasingly times of war, resignation is the last response we want to give. [...] That’s why we are inviting you to the anarchist publishing fair in Lecce on 21st and 22nd May. Full program out soon.

Ioannina. Greece. The self-organized group “Titivillus”, came into existence in the summer of 2017. Since then we have been trying to set up an infrastructure, with the aim to contribute, with our time and effort, to the diffusion of the anarchist/antiauthoriatarian/autonomous printed word produced by collectives and individuals. With this text we are kickstarting a campaign to raise money to upgrade our printing equipment with the purchase of a folding machine and a pin (sheet stapling). We estimate that this equipment, used, and in good condition, will cost us around 3,000 euros.
These interviewees are the very last people that anyone can consider nationalist and that gives their testimony a particular value, extending beyond the scope of Anarchist and far-left audiences, to anyone who is looking for a more sober and even “objective” locally grounded approach to the unfolding events, beyond the control of any corporate or state media, Eastern or Western.
The Committee on Relations of the Internationale of Anarchist Federations (CRIFA), which met in Marseille on 19-20 March, discussed, among other things, matters relating to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Although there are different views among the member federations on some points, they agreed to continue the discussion. The debate resulted in common positions which were summarised in a compromise statement entitled "Against war, for global solidarity" (full text at the end of this article).

Belgorod. Russia. We received information that a cell tower in the Belomestnoe village in the Belgorod oblast was set on fire in the night of April 17-18, 2022. The action was planned and carried out by the BOAK-Slobozhanshchina group.

I left Rojava nearly three years ago now and up until this point has chosen to remain quiet, leaving the writing to those who prefer to talk rather than act. I’ve looked on as the Ukrainians have gotten more support amongst the western anarchist milieu than the Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Yezidis and others could have ever imagined.
