From Open Democracy - by Thomas Swann

Think about where anarchism is talked about on university campuses. Aside from student activism, what comes to mind first is probably departments like anthropology or political science, perhaps also geography, philosophy or history. These academic disciplines have often involved discussions of the pros and cons of the radically democratic and egalitarian practices that make up contemporary and historical anarchist movements.

The East Bay Anarchist book fair, a small and sordid affair, took place at the Humanist Hall in Oakland earlier this month. This year, the book fair sponsored a Fight Night at the local motorcycle club house and dubbed the event “Team Nihilism vs. Team Marxism”. They want us to forget.

Every day there's so much input, some new crisis, some new information, some new screen. Another man or woman killed by the police, and then a sale, what Taylor Swift is doing, what Pharrell said. We could spend our whole lives swiping from one thing to the next, always forgetting, forgetting what happened the day before, forgetting what moved us.

Folding the Black Flag at Space Mountain

Folding the Black Flag is "an exploration of Nihilist Poetics formed through collaborative installation and an extended series of 'Performance Not-Happenings' from New York City to Miami. The exposition is an attempt to 'fold' both in the sense of pack-up/give-up abandon, and of rehistoricization and temporal revisionism - to actively create a new past by reorganizing and layering its facts (can the Dadaists, for instance, be written onto the Black Panther Party?)..."
