From The Brilliant

It turns out that as time goes by The Brilliant is finding its identity as a place for in depth conversations about the life and projects of different anarchists around the US. This episode continues a focus on the Southwest (LA & AZ). Episode 44 is a long conversation on the topic of intra-scene fighting. What are the rules? Are there rules? Episode 45 is more of a freewheeling conversation about bad @ podcasts, opinions, and some back-and-forth.

Topic of the Week: dating...

It can be tricky finding compatibility in dating and relationships at the best of times. So how do anarchist views and ways affect these things, especially considering anarchists make up a tiny percentage of the overall population?

Does dating within established anarchist circles help? Or does this become stagnant at some point?

For people living outside major centres, how do you find people to date who are of like mind or even who are not hostile to your ways?

Slow and steady, we exhume the past. Here's some of our dirty work from the past year:

Sneaky Cop Haters in late 1970s St. Louis
A whimsical dash through five years of anti-cop mischief: “March 1976: The RIT wire basket factory in Rock Hill caught fire because someone wanted it to. That someone wasn’t hip to racist, ex-cop general manager Buck Ray. While Bucky was kicking back in his recliner at home earlier in the week, that someone also sent him telephone and postal threats and a drive-by shower of buckshot to convey something quite scary to this quite scary man.”

From Gods and Radicals

Not everyone in the set of organizational networks and social scenes we call “the US activist community” calls themselves revolutionary. However, those that do have a rainbow of radical organizations to join, with more shades of anarchism, socialism, and communism than most people will ever hear of. Given the radical population’s limited size, competition is fierce, both for already-converted leftists and the as-yet-uninitiated.

From Anarchist Agency

On January 20, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States. There to protest the know-nothing real estate mogul’s ascent to office will be many of the people he’s insulted and denigrated over the past year and a half: women, people of color, Muslims, immigrants – representatives of the majority of the population of the U.S.

Many of us protestors are anarchists.

Why anarchists?

TOTW: Health

It’s that time of the year again, when many in society are making new plans and resolutions for the coming year. While the anarchist may oft shun such silliness from society, some areas behind these ideas demand a closer examination. This TOTW is about anarchists relation to physical and mental health.

From Anarkismo - by Wayne Price drwdpric@aol.com

Summary: Donald Trump and those who follow him have shown certain specific traits of a fascist movement. Does that make Trump or the Trumpets into fascists? What is fascism? How is it counterposed to bourgeois democracy? Is there likely to be a fascist movement in the U.S.A.? How do we fight fascism?
