The loneliness of the small-town anarcho-communist

From ORGANISE!

It’s not easy being a small-town anarcho-communist. Even if you adopt a less theoretical, hands-on approach and avoid badgering the local farmers about Bookchin while they're getting on with lambing season, there can be issues involved when it comes to praxis.

Communique of European organisations of the Anarkismo network for May Day 2023

Communique of European organisations of the Anarkismo network for May Day 2023

From Anarchist Communist Group

Every first of May we commemorate the Chicago Strike of 1886 that culminated in the so called Haymarket Riots. The strike ended with thousands of workers being fired and many injured, the vast majority of them immigrants from Europe. This mass mobilisation was fought extremely hard by the authorities, who subsequently executed the five “Chicago Martyrs”, trade unionists and anarchists militants.

Keith Nathan (1948-2023) A critical assessment

From libcom, by Nick Heath, March 9, 2023

A short article on the political trajectory of Keith Nathan active in the UK anarchist movement in the 1960s-1970s.

Keith Nathan played an important role within the anarchist movement in Britain in the 1960s and 1970s. What follows is a critical assessment of his political trajectory, an assessment that I hope will be soon as honest, even if some may see it as brutal.

Vandalism at the Italian Cultural Center in London

From Act for Freedom Now!

It appears that on 24th February, something unfortunate happened to the Italian Cultural Institute in London. [...W]e can be sure that the impulses behind such an act can only contribute to the general atmosphere of indignation and lack of dialogue with power that Alfredo Cospito’s struggle, against the terms of life and death set by authority, seems to have enflamed everywhere.

Earth First! Winter Moot, Feb 10-12

Respect existence or expect resistance!

You are warmly invited to join us at the 2023 Earth First! winter moot!
https://www.earthfirst.uk/

What on (middle) earth is a moot?!? The moot is a chance to get together during the cold winter months to warm our hearts and put fire in our bellies. It’s a time to reflect on what’s going on in the radical ecological movement and make plans for the year ahead. There will be workshops, tasty vegan food, some music and dancing, and very likely shit homebrew cider.

‘I was born an anarchist’: Kitty Lamb interview notes

i could not find a photo of Kitty Lamb (1901 – 1992), here's this instead

From Judy Greenway

I have just posted unpublished notes from two interviews with activist Kitty Lamb (1901 – 1992) about her life and the development of her anarchist beliefs. She participated in raising money for the Republic during the Spanish Civil War, war resistance in the Second World War, the campaign against capital punishment in the nineteen-fifties, and for nuclear disarmament in the sixties. She took the platform at Speakers Corner, and the stage in anarchist cabaret. Self-deprecating though she was about her own activities, these fragmentary stories illustrate her lifelong commitment to a better world, and give an insight into the shifting social and political groupings and alliances of the times.

Banner Hung in Solidarity with Anarchist Nihilist Comrade Alfredo Cospito

From Act for Freedom Now!

On a typical bleak winter night on this grey prison island, during a typical poster sticking session, we hung a banner, in the Easton area, as a minimal sign of solidarity with our anarchist nihilist comrade Alfredo Cospito, who is on hunger strike since 20th October & is in conflict with the Italian fascist state after it put him in the torturous isolation prison system of 41 bis.
