North Shore Counter-Info is a platform for publishing news, analysis, and events, as well as facilitating discussion and encouraging collaboration. We aspire to provide a space for strategic reflection, engaged critique, and thoughtful debate from an anarchist and anti-authoritarian perspective in Southern Ontario.
In the spirit of overcoming isolation and creeping feelings of hopelessness, we want to build stronger regional networks by sharing resources, publicizing activities, and putting us in communication with each other. In absence of trusted and well-used spaces to share information, it can feel difficult to build intentions, seek out accomplices, and take action. Without platforms to exchange radical ideas about the current context in our towns and cities, it’s easy to be discouraged from putting in the work to build an analysis of what’s possible here. The limits of social media and corporate news are huge, and their logic completely counter to liberatory discussion.
When reading the following pages it would be well to put everything that we already know about technology aside. Indeed, what knowledge or hypothesis passed off as certainty makes up the scientific aspect of technology? Not much.
Negazine is not an easy read. On the contrary, reading it requires a certain level of effort and the will to put oneself on the line. And it couldn’t be otherwise, given the subjects it goes into. Negazine offers neither certain answers nor slogans to write on the next wall.

West Virginia teachers strike—Student walkouts everywhere—Youth liberation NOW!
While students walk out of classes all over the country (and occasionally fight cops) we make the pitch for an anarchist youth liberation movement. In wild, wonderful, and apparently rebellious West Virginia, striking school employees have shut down every public school in the state, while treesitters are putting up resistance to the Mountain Valley Pipeline. We also share calls to support political prisoner Joy Powell, as well as a fundraising drive for a radical café in Istanbul. Listen until the end for announcements of three different speaking tours in March: one about anarchist responses to natural disasters, one about the anarchist critique of democracy, and one all about the J20 case and why the remaining 59 defendants deserve your utmost support.

The following zines and pamphlets were published across the broad anarchist space over the past month. There are a variety of different issues discussed and perspectives articulated, some of which come into conflict with each other. It’s our opinion that anarchy is strongest when different ideas clash rather than promoting a false unity or theoretical hegemony.
Vesuvio libertario is not the name of a group or its logo: these are pure media inventions. Vesuvio libertario is simply the name of an aperiodical of anarchist ideas.
It used to be distributed at the Vesuvius anarchist circle in Via Fontana 3 in Ercolano (Naples), which was sequestrated following the episodes of 15th November 2016 and given back to the ‘owner’ by the authorities. For various reasons the owner decided not to have anything more to do with us, so we declare the experience of the Vesuvius anarchist circle definitively over.
Revolutionary Left Radio is a top source for discussion of radical left politics and ideas and is unique in hosting guests from a range of political ideologies and organizations that you won’t hear anywhere else. We were humbled to be featured on their most recent episode, “Revolutionary Organizing,” discussing our ideas on revolutionary political organization, relationships to social movements, state power, feminism and more.

We think it’s important to organize something like the international A-Fund because it’s a very easy and successful way of informing people about repressions and involving them into direct financial support and solidarity. There are not enough ABC (Anarchist Black Cross) groups in the world where people can ask for support, and most local groups have a lot of pressure, if the context is highly repressive or if the movement is really small and lack funds to support local anarchists. With the Fund, they have easy access to international finance from anywhere.
