and we'd miss you!

awww <3
...but i don’t think it’s necessarily lethal if we eat well before hand, make sure to drink water in between and as long as we don’t use something like moonshine or 150 proof, maybe a mild beer or wine instead and we’ll be fine XD

this podcast was waaaay too short, but still enjoyed it nonetheless.
a good point was brought up I thought - well not exactly, but the topic of really bad translations of non-english language content came up - there seem to have been a lot of this in 2019, here's hoping it gradually gets phased out in 2020.
I think that one way to avoid the embarrassment of poorly translated content on english-language anarchist websites could be to provide a brief english-language summary along with accompanying photos and of course a link to the original content. should be noted that this will generally only work with direct action type stuff - when it comes to things like essays it is preferable if you just leave it the fuck alone - you could always ask around or get in touch with projects that are good at this type of thing and ask them for some help - ye olde communication.
I think readers would much prefer this kind of approach rather than ridiculous attempts at translating that just make your project look really silly.
back to the podcast, looking forward to more episodes in 2020! this episode was shorter than usual, but the a-news podcasts are generally quite short & to the point - hopefully the overly long people babbling incessantly about their project(s), their fundraiser for their project(s) and so on for over an hour will gradually be phased out in 2020 too.
oh, and happy new year!

they discussed all the news of the week. it didn't have an editorial, you could submit one if you want there to be one. the TOTW was not discussed maybe because no one engaged with it and it's winter and holiday season where everyone would rather not work. plus usually people would rather work less than more so don't insist that they put out more than they desire or are comfortable with. maybe some weeks they'd even like to skip it (and have in the past) and you pressuring them makes them feel like they can't skip it.

I'm not pressuring them, just thought it was too short, and as I said I still enjoyed it! If they want to skip a week they should, I doubt they feel pressured by anonymous commenters.

totw was busy last week. plenty of good comments and points to discuss. i'm guessing it was missed because of holidays. no biggie

is open to suggestions (although the email address is underutilized for this purpose, but whatevs), and the amount of pressure brought to bear here is entirely in the manageable category. thanks for the concern though, anon.
this particular suggestion is not one that i personally think works for anews. we don't do our own translations, we get english language things from other places and sometimes we accept bad translations for reasons. however summaries in more understandable english could also be done by commenters. even by anon. so perhaps the anon who suggested it will take it upon themselves? money, mouth, meet! ;)
i doubt that bad translations will lessen in coming years; expect them in fact to get more common, as people rely more and more on machine translation.

With the chopped and screwed style, when's your mixtape dropping?

(wait, is it head's up? shit. anyway...)
no podcast this week (1/4/20), since folks here reminded jackie that she could take a break, that's what she's doing. she appreciates the permission! and hopes everyone is taking breaks when they need them, to come back funnier (hope!).
