I was really looking forward to this week's episode, especially the conversation on the topic of the week. It'd be really nice to hear people who have some interest in the topic and a stance on the matter talk about future TOTW's. It'd especially be interesting if the conversation engaged more with that happening in the comments. Even if you thought the questions I and others posed were boring, that'd have been much more interesting then just ignoring them.

could you have said this in a more obnoxious way? do you have trouble communicating with people?

work on those communication skills big guy

Is there a way I can be less obnoxious?

Do I need to not be obnoxious in order to have a conversation?

I admit I'm not going at communicating with people. I think it comes with the territory of being retarded but even in that sense I may be a special case of social ineptitude.

What would you suggest as a good source on "working on ones communication skills?"

Why do you think "communication skills" are important?

I really liked the note it ended on about how the ritual of scapegoating tries to purify by casting out and discarding, sacrificing or ostracism. I'm made uncomfortable by the "cops on anarchist bookfairs" parable. My takeaway from that would be not to go to those events, instead of handing out propaganda potent enough to "turn" a cop, or use them to rate the propaganda. Although that was probably said half-joking. I understood the implied parallel between excluding "criminals" from society by prison or death sentence, and excluding cops from anarchist spaces, as if one could truly remove "criminal" or "cop" behavior from a group or space and achieve a sort of purity. I disagree with insisting on the "kill the cop in your head" slogan as a rhetorical go-to, since it's kind of overstated as a moralism enforcing not having morals and even not drawing hard lines and preferences. The cop in my head is me too, no shoes on the sofa please. Lots of things, people, and thoughts are "cops", but not all are like literal cops. Anyways, good totw chat food for thought.

yeah, I think it's a pretty big mistake to equate interpersonal conflict with the gun toting mercenaries of capital at all ... at best, it's a very sloppy metaphor.
