Kathan gives a little bit of a refreshing response to looking for the original sin, anthropology, etc around the 27:00 mark

The caller seemed to be critiquing the almost reckless optimism Zerzan often espouses, and as usual, all Zerzan could do was get upset, and insist the indigenous people of the so-called US weren't decimated by 90-95% in the first century of European colonization, and also insist that Palestinian nationalism still has a chance against Zionism. I feel like the caller never nade the crucial point, which is something Kathan briefly alluded to: where do we go from here?

Tell me where we go from here
Tell me we go from...

And in this moment we can't close the lids
On burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with friends we know
Like fallout vapor
Steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun
Scorched and black
It reaches in and tears your flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart

That's if you've still got one that's left
Inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw
Can we still reclaim our innocence?
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now

This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
And stolen from my eyes
Hello angel, tell me
Where are you?
Tell me, where we go from here
This broken city sky
Like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello angel, tell me
Where are you?

Tell me where we go from here
Tell me where we go from here...

stream cutting out seems to me like a miraculous blessing, not a problem

anon 11:52 you are correct, I only wish it had cut out before that break music,

I really don't want to listen again to the show but I think your take is too generous to the caller. What I heard was more along the lines of since white settlers killed all the Native Americans why are we still arguing over land rights, why don't we just take it? Not in so many words, of course.

On another note, the stream cut out around the 35 minute mark for me. Did anyone else have this problem?

Question for Nettle:

Since white settlers killed all the Native Americans why are we still arguing over land rights, why don't we just take it?

Oops! I pissed one off. Now I have a sincere flatterer. Hi sweetheart!

"Since white settlers killed all the Native Americans why are we still arguing over land rights, why don't we just take it?"

Since you are so dense, why expecting a honest reply to such bad-faith, dishonest, and perhaps also some fucking racist trolling?

Racist? Yeah, okay. It's racist to underscore historical events. Okay. Keep living in that social justice warrior bubble. I'm sure you're destined for great things.

The caller, "Chickpea," seemed to be holding in his HURRICANE-force critique of JZ probably only because he needs validation for PUTTING HIS BODY ON THE LINE in what is very much NOT A FUCKING GAME!

Even more funny the song that played right after Z's, I mean"Chickpea's" call was "Hurricane Railroad." GG!

If only Chickpeas had the sheer WILD insurrecto courage of putting his own life on the line... to finally reveal us all the Truth about Teddy K being a FBI snitch behind bars, and all the post-Foreman EF! being run by a MARXIST-FEMWHINIST plot! Still trembling in HATE when I think of these commies. Gunna take my meth, now. Damn globalist commies gunna take away our kids and...

But I'll stick to coffee & beer. Not as intense, yet at least you can lift those without expecting to get shot by the local dealer.

...and no, you won't have this pleasure neither with your nice handgun, weakling. You need bigger/better/badder to spook me up, snowflake.

^^Don't give this guy another beer! Mixed with all the testosterone in his system, there's likely to be a revolution and uprising at the strip bar!

Chickpea is too busy looking for JZ's validation so he can continue to dismiss Indigenous, black, and brown, LGBTQ struggles as unnecessary idpol all while REEEEEing his own vegan-Palestinian--American-disabled-PRIMAL-nomad super important idpol -- not to mention the harassment, misogyny, stalking, rape and death threats -- which surely are very time consuming and take away from his putting his life on the line by going FULL HURRICANE on the State, fascists, and other enemies of anarchy. But really it's not Z's, I mean "Chickpea's" fault. It's all the COWARD PUSSIES that simply don't have the BALLS to go FULL HURRICANE!

The Niger Delta Mother Fuckers Street Team approves of this comment.

Watch for our new single dropping soon titled: Are you a Hurricane or a Hurrican't?

A diss track so ruthless it could only be described as "violent"

10/10. Troll on!

Here are some interesting books to check out and there are related youtube presentions, interviews etc as well as the woderful accessible taxcast made in the UK. Wealth Managers, accountants, law firms, lawyers, tax havens etc: who is extracting wealth, how are they doing it, where is it being done etc etc. This is necessary reading for anarchists and everyone else. Anarchists need to read this so they have a total understanding and the vocabulary to articulate how and why inequality aka austerity, property price increases, gig economy, species extinction, the rise of racism, fascism etc is happening. 'Secrecy World' by Jake Bernstein, 'Capital Without Borders' by Brooke Harrington, 'Moneyland' by Oliver Bullough, 'Why We Can't Afford The Rich' by Andrew Sayer, 'Tax Havens' plus 'The Finance Curse' by Nicholas Shaxon and 'Legalizing Theft' by Alain Deneault. All these people explain between the how, the why, the who, the where etc in very accessible (sometimes technical although most of this is explained too) way. The financialisation of the economy and life is Orwellian speak on a massive scale whereby the mega wealthy despise competition and demand regulation (their regulations). The books offere an insight into the psychology of the owners of mega bucks and their wealth managers who do all the grafting: keeping up to speed on global loopholes etc. I didn't know that people can actually buy a second legal passport. These absurdly rich people don't live (as we do) within borders. Very little of the mechansims of how it is all done finds its way into newspapers as mainstream press is in on it too. Surprise Surprise. Don't get to hung up on the Left political 'solutions' suggested in these books; read these books to educate yourself and others regarding the dire state of things today. It's no good saying the rich get rich and the poor get poorer and it's all neoliberal bollocks: where does that get you? You need to understand what is being done to you.

Dude... there's like some valuable references in there but I couldn't even read this not-too-long textwall.

These books sound like liberal coffee shop writers who just started discovering capitalism without yet finding out that's a system.

No mention by JZ of the book ---> Technology and the Destruction of the Nihilist Continuum. Sad :(

that’s not a real book.

link to pdf or it didnt happen

It got banned, I got a copy printed and bound from the anon author. Its self published.

Perhaps I was correct. Sad.
But anyway, we didn't, we shouldn't be, the land is not ours.

Regarding 'the original sin.' JZ has spent his writing life researching origins and writing about his thoughts and broadcasting his opinions on such matters for years.

However, along comes Ria, over an exceedingly brief moment, posts a couple of thought essays (backed with references too) challenging some of JZ's work: perhaps controlled use of fire (cooking, human species spreading to colder climates etc) may have been the catalyst which opened the path for human domination, as well as bringing in folio and frugivore which challenges the 'man the hunter' narrative. Kathan decides to have a dig at Ria and fellow commenters at @News for being fixated on matters of original sin when there are matters to be faced here and now: not a word from Kathan of has she (Kathan) has gushed over and over regarding JZ's years of research in to origins and what a waste of time it amounts to considering that we have urgent matters facing us today!

Ria knew JZ may not acknowledge (take too kindly) to Ria poking her nose in to HIS domain, HIS niche as she politely raised her forthcoming challenge with JZ on his show a couple of weeks back.

Carry on Ria, you keep putting forward a challenging narrative which is worthy of real consideration. You reference your material. There may be jealousy from some that your work receives so much interest and comments. So please bear that in mind.

Ria could be correct in that JZ and his disciples surreptitiously want to remain in control. And to retain their control, controlled use of fire is necessary. It is necessary to kill off, warn off predators, it is necessary to live in colder climates, it is necessary to eat flesh, it is necessary to keep females fertile etc.

Indeed, this lack of acknowledging controlled use of fire could be seen as man-the-hunter devotees 'admitting' that the less the matter of controlled use of fire is mentioned, the more they may get validation for what what they seek: retaining domination?

JZ, as you read this comment thread, here is a question for you: I would like to know how could domestication have ever taken place without initially having already gained controlled of fire? There would be no point in having all this domestication food if we couldn't cook it. We wouldn't have been able to arrange land and non-humans including plants without controlled use of fire being the means.

The nature of fire may not have changed: fire is still fire; a flame is still a flame...wild and free...unless it is under the control of another...then that fire, that flame is domesticated to our will otherwise we will extinguish it..now if that isn't control I don't know what is.

And thank you Ria for raising the whole matter. Maybe, humans can never 'return' while controlled use of fire remains so central to human existence!

Ok, but can I use fire to bake my foraged roots, greens, mushrooms, etc? Or do I have to wait for lightning to strike?

Hey, guess what, I wrap all my meat and vegetables around a light globe and wrap silverfoil tightly around the lot and place that inside a pot and leave it for 6 hrs.
Imagination + heat energy = bon appetite

Great vegan anti-oppression cooking recipes that even Ria wouldn't leak to me!

Preferred the troll who starves to death waiting for a lightning storm

To save energy on heating during a blizzard, kill and cut open a large animal, pull out its intestines, and crawl into the abdominal cavity. Pull the intestines back up against the opening to keep in the heat. Snug as a bug in a rug.
If you live near a herd of cows you should survive the winter and save alot on energy bills ;)gtv$a@

I don't know if this joke genre has been applied to anprims, but here goes?

How many anprims does it take to change a light globe?
None, because that's a rhetorical question.

Controlled-hurricane is the way forward. Controlled-fire got us into this mess of civilization. Controlled-hurricane can get us out of it because they are so violent.

Niger Delta Motherfuckers Street Team spitting more hurricane wisdom at ya

Seems like Controlled-Hurricane gonna smash a whole lotta light bulbs!

That's a fair point with regards to the way JZ handles challenges to his talking points.

This whole thing brings to mind things like animal rights activists attempting to sabotage Makah whale hunts. I am leery of veganarchists (a kind of pointless label imo) pretending to have the Answer that makes them feel justified in shit talking indigenous people online and off (which i have seen). Hopefully this anti-predation theory will not lead to more embarrassing incidences that divide struggles. More anti-civ theory is not a bad thing, do things have to be so fanboi/girl in this tendency though?. I say all of this as a long time vegan myself.

are NOT the same thing as adaptive fitness.

And now, the Monsterous Colonialism of the indigenous Californians (with their FIRE and HUNTING!), before the white invasion:
Symbiosis between organisms is common in nature. What is unique about normal humans ("savages") is that they form a symbiosis with an entire ecosystem as a totality, tending it to peak health.
From my book, pg. 125-126:
(Bischel) writes as if no humans lived in northern/central CA before the Europeans invaded. The "natural process" of low-intensity fires that keep the forests healthy were in fact natural - deliberately set by the natural/wild humans who actually KNEW how to live here.
What the first European invaders found here was an immense park. Huge, healthy, well-spaced trees, hundreds and even thousands of years old. Modest amounts (pure stands in chaparral) of trim, vigorous brush, free from massive amounts of dead and dying fire fuel. . . . Vast crown fires were completely unknown, and the far healthier forests had greater biodiversity. This meant a lot more deer for the humans (and cougars and wolves), as well as a lot more acorn, manzanita berries, and nutritious greens for the humans (and bears and raccoons - tho neither knew how to pound and leech acorn). In small openings in the forest (deliberately cleared and maintained, which also improved forest health/biodiversity and greatly raised acorn yield), as well as the open woodlands and grasslands, fields of brodea ("Indian potatoes") were propagated by permaculture to densities of 100 per sq. ft. . . .

Humans today who are learning how to live here appropriately can also accelerate the shift in native vegetation, helping the rest of nature adapt more quickly/smoothly to climate change.

What did one point say to the other?

I'm on my period.

what a condescending prick you seem to be. Surely this topic is relevant to all of us? surely you (and JZ) should be happy that new people are coming in who are interested and challenging and engaged?

John Zerzan is the name most people associate with it: so it is his domain in that respect and he knows it too. JZ is known as THE anti-civ guy. He is the face of anarcho-primitivism. He is the personality of anarcho-primitivism. He was the voice who brought the money in. So, yes, it is/was HIS domain. Yes, the topic is relevant to all of us; you have clearly misunderstood what is clearly written: as I encouraged Ria to keep on posting her challenging perspectives....duh!

demonstrated what is wrong with JZ and anarchoprimitivism(tm).

And maybe if more people were DOING anarcho-"primitivism", and were known to others, this would not be a problem.

I'm more into the post-anprim phase of evolution, its a lot more of a nuanced use of technology and socio-economic relationships.,.

As I like to call it. Not that Silly Willie Gillie blue nonsense. Niche anarchists need to make some piece with excessive materiality and not get locked into what is essentially secular age asceticism.
