editorial was funny at first, but then very real and sad, well done

agree with points expressed in totw discussion

Nihilism translates simply as shallowness. No, I'm serious, its very easy to just not think about anything. One of the great intellectual critiques refers to the masses of blissfully ignorant people. Well, the truth is, that they are nihilists, simple as that.
One cannot rest on the laurels of nihilism in any context!!!

That's true, with true nihilism comes the responsibility to not be frivolous, gay or wearing a fake expression. If one is angry, one looks angry, if one is happy, one is rolling on the floor laughing, all other expressions are fake masks to faciltate favor, observe customs and mannerisms and save face.

"Nihilism translates simply as shallowness."

false.

"No, I'm serious, its very easy to just not think about anything."

whether you're "serious" or not, this is also false.

"One of the great intellectual critiques refers to the masses of blissfully ignorant people. Well, the truth is, that they are nihilists, simple as that."

subjective assertion and false conclusion.

"One cannot rest on the laurels of nihilism in any context!!!"

while this statement means absolutely nothing it is still also false.

how embarrassing.

Agreed, all these statements are false or non-sensical, however it is a fact that notnull is not a nihilist, and notnull was being sarcastic when declaring to be one, because it well known by everyone and agreed upon by most people that nihilists just aren't bubbly and vivacious, but infact the opposite, which was the joke notnull was making by stating to attribute these qualities to nihilism. It was a joke.
So the incorrect poster who got all worked up about notnull not being a nihilist missed the whole point in trying to explain that nihilism could not be cheerful or happy, and completely missed the joke. Yes, embarrassing and stupid!

your assertions—that it is "a fact" that notnulll can't be a nihilist because they don't fit your narrow criteria of nihilist behaviors or that nihilists can't be "bubbly and vivacious"—are just idiotic as were the assertions of the poster that asserted that nihilists could not be cheerful or happy. the "jokes" here are the non-understanding of nihilism, nihilists, happiness, joy, meaning, followed by the inexperienced, unintelligent commentary on concepts, people, and ideas that one has no business discussing.

New poster here, I couldn't help but be amused by this whole hilariously dumb thread, for a while I had trouble telling the difference between sarcasm and stupidity, including this final episode by you. Can you tell all of us what nihilism is then, I'm not being smart or confrontational, I just think that if someone is going to be so opinionated, they have to back it up, even if its stupid like the other efforts above, at least they put their cards on the table. I think the main direction was regarding lol, the everyday demeanour of the nihilist in everyday life lol.

mu here, and no. i'm not here to teach you. do like all the other kids and become a wikipedia expert in just a few minutes!

is it 'being opinionated' to counter opinionated and incorrect assertions with facts? hm. and if nothing means anything then is my life meaningless??? omg.

what difference do any of these definitions make? i'd rather just hear about how a particular thought pattern plays out in someone's life. call it "nihilism" or whatever, doesn't matter to me.

I was not being sarcastic, and I don't think that stating something is a fact makes it one, nor is "It well known by everyone and agreed upon by most people" a good criterion for why something is true. How does nihilism have anything to do with being cheerful or happy?

I would love to hear you say that to JZ, sparks would fly definitely.

"the masses of blissfully ignorant people. Well, the truth is, that they are nihilists, simple as that."

Srsly, didja saw that in your morning coffee? Nihilists don't respect the laws or private property or money or Facebook accounts. So that equally rules out most of your ignorant "masses" of people.

11:58 here, lol,
" Nihilists don't respect the laws or private property or money or Facebook accounts."
Lol, WHO ARE these mysterious " nihilists " that they have everyone vehemently disputing their appearance and disposition. Its a wonder the State has not declared a War Against Nihilism lol.
What if I told you that I was a nihilist who lived by the maxim ---Live and let live ---- and respected most everyone but with a strong mix of cynicism and pessimism, yet had a bubbly and vivacious demeanour, like notnull.?

I never before would have said Chisel sounds chipper but after that (dark but right-on) editorial by Dim, there is Chisel sounding chipper. Probably just the juxtaposition.

The totw discussion was good too. Thanks for the reminder that Bob Black has said some very on point things. Too bad (or is it?) that all our anarchist gems have serious flaws.

Chisel and Dim excel at very extra sarcastic voice tone placement while still sounding playful/likeable

They all sounded nice and cheery this week. A pleasant change from listening to all of the miserable, backbiting anarchos around me in real life.

I learned that me and Bob Black actually agree about the cops except I would never stoop so low! Interesting!

great episode! every bit from the mixing to editorial, news, and discussion.

but someone should periodically check on Dim. maybe with hugs
