yes, both totw discussions were great.

on the discussion of "drugs" though, a lot depends on which drug we are talking about, no? and where do prescription drugs enter into this discussion? (i mean, besides opioids, which i think has been discussed a lot.)

Chichi & Donny Don’t! never got to the meat of the issue (sorry vegans). they talked about poetry and drug use (Donny Don’t! sounds like Nancy Reagan), but never really got to the subject of personal responsibility, the part that concerns anarchists.

chichi absolutely talked about personal responsibility.

really? not really. it was mentioned, but not discussed in any depth or substance.

didn't seem like the prompt was about responsibility. seemed like the prompt was about harm reduction and poetry.

maybe you could record what you'd like someone to have said and email it to thecollective. i hear they're interested in adding people's short hot takes on teh topics.

Living in the US, where the entire mainstream discourse around drugs is that of personal responsibility, I didn't feel the need to make sure that narrative got air time.

really? most of what i have heard in the mainstream, from the left side of it at least, is about coddling addicts, and then, you got it, that's what so-called anarchists do.

What does the phrase "mainstream left" mean to you in the context of the United States? Please cite examples of mainstream left outlets in the United States.

I'm from the U.S., a lot of leftists aren't real cool with drug addicts. A lot of the mainstream discussion has to do with punishment vs. harm-reduction (prison vs. rehab or methadone or clean needles program, etc.), but I have not heard a single person here talk about "coddling" drug addicts, like, you know, giving them all of the drugs they want without having to work for them. Lol. What a bunch of fucking bs.

not here, yet, but it is a trend that is growing, i have read, heard on NPR, and know about, many situations of extreme coddling in regard to drug use.

well, NPR, CNN, MSMBC, PBS, BBC, New York Times, The Guardian, etc (as far as media outlets), and many many individual authors, podcasters, etc. to varying degrees.

and we could argue what we mean by "mainstream" and "the Left", but that is all pointless, and usually deflection. the bullshit binary of politics has real consequences, and too many anarchist fall squarely on one side of it..

outside of the analytical black hole of the USA, "leftist media" would include a serious critique of capitalism

inside of the infinite feedback loop of brain damaged nonsense, all things barely related to the enlightenment are considered the same gay trans marxist agenda. regardless of your own position, maybe you can see the issue with the use of the word "mainstream" when most of the rivers have dried up completely?
