When I first read Theory of a Young-Girl, I thought that it was kind of a sweet psychedlic Paprika-like trip, but, in retrospect, coming to an understanding of what their theory actually is, I, ultimately think that it is somewhat, intentionally or not, essentializing and sexist. I really like the concept of the "figure of total integration withing a disintegrating social totality", but, think that situating this figure as a young women ultimately re-establishes the sexist misconstruction that women are frivolous. It is intended to be somewhat incindiary, but, I kind of feel like they're just sort of getting away with it in that regard. Does anyone else feel like this or have anything to say about that text?

I did read the TNI piece, but, it has been a while. I haven't read the Mansoor text. I will take a look. Thanks, anon.
"Is Hamlet the original Man-Child? No: the Romantics made him one." lol.
I forgot how good that TNI rebuttal was. The Mansoor retort is pretty good as well.
