where blanket statements are amusing or educational or seem pithy?
no one "gives no trust." absolutely no one. when do you decide to trust someone? when you've known them for long enough? when you've been through a protest together? when they wear the right clothes? when they say the right words? some might say that a bunch of the antifa stuff (and a lot of the identity politics stuff) is a fight about how important language is as a marker for trust. that people who don't pledge themselves to certain words are automatically untrustworthy. maybe that is reasonable to a point? people do need (or at least really really want) some kind of short cut to determine the kind of conversation to have with someone (you know, kinda like the label anarchist, maybe?)...
so how do you decide? when do you decide that you've made a mistake? then what do you do?
