In his book "Civilization and its Discontents" , written during his idealistic years, there is almost a metaphorical affinity to Marx's moods of ressentiment, absorbed from the bulk of existing social theories of that era, encompassing their shared descriptions of Western consciousness. They came from the same species of cognitive thought processing but at the opposite ends of the social binary.
