As solution, why not just arming yourself (may it be just with non-lethal defense weapons) against a potential snatch operation? Since they seem to be trying to do that quickly and unnoticed, the pain clothes pigs aren't likely to fight over a snatching, hence likely to leave as soon as there's any sort of violent opposition. Keep in mind that since the legality of it is problematic (blatant abduction over zero evidence of "crime"?).

Seek and destroy vans? Is there a way to track down not just the vans themselves but where they're parking?

Affinity groups: there might be a lot of people who can't afford to easily build an "affinity group". So these people have gotta compensate for not having people of trust hanging out with them all the time *sighs*. Not everyone's THAT gregarious.

And "staying tight".... I think on the contrary, keeping a distance of, say, 2 meters (I know I know...) can be very effective against cops for a few good reasons, like:

- allowing for everyone to see more clearly what's going on at every angle around them;

-being able to respond, counter-attack, or just move more fluidly and quickly (as opposed to being blocked by your own wall of comrades);

- taking a much wider area in the streets than just the space of your tight pack of people;

- a tight pack is easier to encircle and kettle than a wide, constantly moving grid...

"Be like water", yes... but when you're in a tight pack you're more like a rock rolling around.
