these articles below describe him as an affable fool, with the ignorance, the prejudices, the skills and graces of the bricklayer of his time and place that he was. he was also a storyteller, they might as well have been tall tales. but he was also a real flesh and blood anarchist, and sometimes we crave stories like this. not because we need heroes, but because we need to know that others existed and how they lived. i appreciate the part of the story you describe that counter the hagiography and the lessons you’re trying to impart. but just because others did that and more, does not make his life unimportant to him and whoever considers it so. it‘s great most of these people you describe are not fighting fir the spotlight, but if none of their lives are shared as stories, many might not even realize that’s a possibility for their lives.
