Lund, Sweden - Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners: Arson of Shell Truck Trailers

In the city of Lund (Sweden) on the night of August 27, we set fire to three cargo trailers belonging to the British-Dutch Shell corporation, parked at a gas station of this company. Shell is participating as an investor in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and this was the reason why we chose the facility. This attack was carried out as part of the Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners on August 23-30.

Nord Stream 2, owned by the Russian state corporation Gazprom, is a strategic project for the Putin regime. This pipeline will become a serious weapon in the hands of the dictatorship. Nevertheless, Shell and several other Western companies are economically helping the Russian state. Moreover, Shell acted not only as an investor, but also turned on all its lobbying power in the West to make life easier for Putin. Shell lobbyists argue that there are no alternatives to Russian gas.

Helping the Putin regime is not Shell's only atrocity, and there is a long list of them. This is the creation of conditions incompatible with normal life for millions of people, especially in the countries of the so-called "third world", and cooperation with the dictatorship in Nigeria, which defended the enrichment of the Shell capitalists by murder and torture, and the destruction of nature around the world.

Information about all of this is easy to find. Fortunately, Shell's facilities have come under repeated insurgency attacks in various countries. And we are very glad that we made our modest contribution to the fight against these scoundrels. During the Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners, an attack against Putin's accomplices from Shell seems to us a sure way to show support for our captive comrades.

The Russian dictatorship is subjecting the anarchists to brutal repression. The trial of the Kan anarchist teenagers Nikita Uvarov, Denis Mikhailenko and Bogdan Andreev continues. They face a long prison sentence under the article "undergoing training in terrorist activities" and a number of other charges. Azat Miftakhov was sent to a colony where prisoners are tortured. Maksim Smolnikov is in jail on charges of justifying terrorism; the persons involved in the Network case continue to serve their long sentences. Yevgeny Karakashev recently celebrated his 43rd birthday in prison. Anastasia Safonova and Dmitry Tsibukovsky are being tried in Chelyabinsk. The activities of anarchist groups in Russia are being suppressed by new criminal cases and torture. Our attack is a reminder of our imprisoned comrades.

Russian imperialism seeks to suppress revolutionary impulses around the world. Over the past year, we have seen many times how Putin provided material and diplomatic support to the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko. European political forces loyal to the Kremlin, including a number of ultra-right parties, have tried and are trying to block sanctions against the Belarusian regime. The Russian special services closely cooperate with the Belarusian, and the persecuted Belarusian revolutionaries who find themselves on the territory of the Russian Federation are awaiting arrest and extradition. Most recently, a Russian court ruled to extradite an anti-fascist from Brest, Andrei Kazimirov to Belarus. In 2010, the anarchist Igor Olinevich was handed over to the Belarusian KGB by the FSB without any legal proceedings at all.

In 2014, after the uprising and overthrow of the oligarchic regime of Yanukovych in Ukraine, the Russian armed forces launched an invasion of that country. Syrian dictator Assad sits on his bloody throne only thanks to Russian military aid. Currently, the Putin regime is selling weapons to the military dictatorship in Myanmar, these weapons are used in the war against the rebels, including our fellow anarchists. Shell was at least indirectly involved in these atrocities.

Like Shell, Russian state-owned and oligarch-owned companies are waging one environmental disaster after another. The Russian state suppresses any attempts to resist the destruction of nature with repression. Attacking Nord Stream 2 and its European investor Shell means protecting people, animals and our entire planet from merciless dictators and greedy capitalists.

It is also worth adding that we do not divide capitalists into good and bad, we do not believe in the existence of "green" and "ethical" capitalism. The entire capitalist system, which is based on the exploitation of people and the destruction of nature, must be destroyed. Now we have attacked Shell because it is obvious to us that this corporation is cooperating with the Russian state. But our struggle will not be completed until the complete destruction of all states and capitalism.

Freedom for all anarchists!
