http://bostonreview.net/books-ideas/robin-blackburn-review-many-headed-h... here's one for Many-Headed Hydra, a broader approach that covers slave rebellions and Peasant rebellions. I am just getting through an interesting chapter about all the insurrections by sailors and townspeople in the northern colonies against the British navy press-gangs. Seems the author is showing how the American Revolution had the potential for a more libertarian direction and that the Founding Fathers were if anything counterrevolutionary. It's interesting to see that in the port towns and especially in the taverns close to the wharves how poor whites, free and enslaved blacks, and (back in the 1740s anyways) Indigenous peoples freely mixed. The popular myth, both right and left, is that ye olde colonial times were hyper-segregated.
