not just a "disparity in value" but one constructed very similarly: as people who are "alien" and from elsewhere, don't speak our language and never assimilate to society, are dirty and carry diseases, are "prone to criminality" esp. sexual violence and terrorism, cause economic and political problems , have dangerous beliefs, etc (shades of anti-blackness, islamophobia, lgbt+phobia, the new red/green scares etc). this absolute difference is not just a disparity -they are *really* not like us, they are ontologically different, i.e. , not human - justifies reduction to bare life, where agamben located the origins of the camp (though historically of course it should be placed in u.s. "anti-indianism"/settler colonial genocide). then construction of these places where people are simply warehoused as objects reifies this absolute difference in a feedback loop, while the state tells its supporters that this isn't happening, or if it is happening it's fine....there were camps in germany for years before they were death camps, when people had been used to there being these kind of spaces, where "non-people" were already dying all the time from disease, hunger, enslavement, performative/ritualistic sadism; where public terrorism had also been normalized as a state tool, etc.
