The death of Indymedia has been exaggerated. Although entirely too many people have switched to corporate-owned sites like Facebook, we are still here.

https://dcindymedia.org/ is DC's Indymedia site, the URL changed when we had to change servers in 2014 and it was no longer possible to get the global Indymedia collective to reset the old URL (which was dc.indymedia.org and no longer works) to the new IP address.

When I post reports to Indymedia of the various protests and direct actions I am in, I don't use Youtube for video due to all of Google's ads and the grasping tentacles of their data collection. Instead I post the video at archive.org, which is not supported by ads, uses no javascript other than their own, and does not even log IP addresses. That video can safely be embedded in Indymedia stories without causing Google or anyone else to get server logs of everyone who reads the story.
