24th Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair / ROAR Conference - Postponed

Dear friends,

On behalf of the Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair and the Revolutionary Organizing Against Racism Conference, we sadly must announce the postponement of our joint event that was to take place on April 25, 2020.

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in the Bay Area and the growing number of cases, it would be irresponsible of us as organizers to ask people to gather in such large numbers hoping not to spread the virus to our comrades and loved ones. We continue to be inspired by people all around the world who are seizing this urgent moment to extend the principles of solidarity and mutual aid into the most vulnerable sectors of society that capitalism and the state have always forgotten and exploited. It is in this vein that we would like to adapt to the current moment and offer podcast interviews of different mutual aid projects around the world in order in educate and inspire to action those of us who are concerned with revolutionary solutions to the crisis of capitalism.

We hope to reschedule the original event to Fall 2020 in September or October. As the situation evolves in the coming months, we will have a better idea of a specific date. Stay tuned in the weeks to come as we roll out a compilation of interviews with mutual aid projects from all over the country and updates from international comrades.

Finally we would like to thank all of you for supporting this project and the actions you are already taking in this time of great tumult to love and support one another.

In struggle,

The Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair Committee / ROAR Conference

can this event be perpetually postponed? pretty please? fucking identity politicians in their echo chambers ready to call out anyone who looks at their organizational imperatives crosseyed...

With the Recession cooling off rent prices, any chance of the Bookfair returning to the Golden Gate Park County Fair Building?

There was a lot more room to move around inside there and outside the building, important for the social distancing era. The two day format also seemed to make crowding less of an issue.

Love the event each year, and appreciate all the work that goes into it.

Did you know that covid-19 survives on surfaces for 4-5 days? That building, like New York, is a potential petri dish of covid-19.

Did you know that a person can survive on surface of this Earth up to a bit longer than 100 years? Even living in buildings, like like those New York. Biology trivia can be scary.

Maybe a good time to think about moving the book fair/gay anarchist shopping mall and conference away from the old models. Bay area anarchist blockade. Bay area anarchist campout. Bay area anarchist bike fair. Bay area anarchist primi fair. bay area anarchist bar crawl. bay area anarchist chill spot. bay area anarchist bbq. bay area anarchist gathering.

For real! Everything that stinks about the Bay Area is encapsulated in this -- the anarcho-drop-out petty commodity exchange scene plus racial nationalist creepy-crawlies who should borrow Doctor Who's police box and permanently fuck off back to the early 1970's. Maybe 'It's Going Down' can find a way to fawn over them.

Is there a reason why you did not post the Green Scare Anarchist Bookfair May 9th-10 POSTPONED submission?
