I wonder why?

SUDS was busy camping?

Way better use of their time!

My faith in primitivism will be restored if JZ can start a fire using a stick and friction, just this one simple gesture!

"start a fire using a stick and friction"
there are at least two distinct techniques for this, each with its own challenges. there's the hand drill technique, which is a little more labor intensive and can easily lead to blisters for the novice. there's also the bow drill technique, which requires a little more dexterity but is much quicker for the more experienced firemaker. the key for each is steady perpendicular pressure on the fire board (where the embers gather). it's a lot more difficult than it looks, and i have my doubts that jz has the patience for either. being a longtime urban dweller, he'd probably just use a match or a lighter.

I AM THE GOD OF PRIMITIVE FIRE USAGE AND I SAY HAVE FAITH IN MY OXYGEN THIRSTY METABOLISM, I AM THE LORD TO YOUR LATTER DAY FIRE WORSHIPPERS, AND YOU SHALL KNEEL DOWN JZ TO ME AS YOU RUB STICKS TOGETHER AS SACRIFICIAL SPARKS IGNITE MY BEING. I AM YOUR HELL IF YOU EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES OF YOUR SINFUL CIVILIZATION MWUHAHAHAHAAA!!

He loves his academia too much! He would be restless within a week or two itching to get into some book or other. Over the years, to my knowledge, he just about went camping a couple of times. So, he is no practitioner; more a theorist. Personally, I don't like it when he feigns desire for living out in the forest away from the technology and convenience he surrounds himself. He says he doesn't have a car or a computer: that those belong to his wife but we all know JZ wouldn't be without his creature comforts. That said, I am very appreciative of the material he writes. He has help me articulate much of what I detest about the way we live in the West. I would never have thought that civilisation is the problem without discovering JZ. And the question SUDS put to him: "What would it take for you, John, to walk away from Anarchy Radio (to live in 'nature')? really got underneath the skin of JZ, as SUDS had just spent 30 days in the forest which JZ hasn't done, even in his younger days. Bookchin had a pop at him for being a Lifestyle Anarchist some years ago which was met with scorn.

Do you think anyone would go with him to "live in nature"? Wouldn't that be a big gamble, even if someone would, since there's no assurance that you could cooperate, and the consequences of dropping out are so large?

What I mean is it seems like we've reached the point where there has to be some combination of personal changes and political changes, because the former can't be complete without the latter.

anon 08:16 Wait, how the fuck do you pretend to know all the personal details of JZ's life and inner workings of his mind and motivations and feelings? Do you live with him? Are you his secret gay lover?

Get the fuck off.

The clue is in 'secret.!' Take your time to think about what YOU wrote then have a nap.

Why don't you just answer my questions, instead of deflecting and telling me what to do. k douchebag?
