Bruxelles : Brief report of the trial against anarchists persecuted by the Belgian State

From Act for Freedom! - 29 and 30 April 2019

29 and 30 April 2019 the trial against the anarchists charged with “criminal association” and for a series of offences took place in Brussels.
Two defendants attended the trial in the Criminal Court Room. They refused to answer the judges’ questions.
The other ten accused did not show up. All were represented by lawyers.

Following the arguments of the magistrate Malignini of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office the lawyers then spoke. The magistrate requested the following sentences for the various defendants:
  • 300 hours’ work or a prison sentence of 4 years (1 person)
  • 250 hours’ work or a prison sentence of 3 years (2 persons)
  • 200 hours’ work or a prison sentence of 30 months (4 persons)
  • 150 hours’ work or a prison sentence of 18 months (1 person)
  • 100 hours’ work or a prison sentence of 12 months (1 person)
  • 12 months’ suspended sentence or a fine of 50 euros (1 person)
  • Acquittal (2 persons)
The accused refused to accept a work sentence. The court will therefore not be able to pronounce such sentences.
The judgment will be pronounced on May 28, 2019.
