From Anarchist Black Cross Federation
Casey’s sentencing hearing has once again been postponed until July 22nd at 1pm at the Oakland Federal Court house. We will be mobilizing court support again for this hearing so stay tuned for confirmation and guidelines a few weeks before that date.
Support letters
There is now even more time to people who know Casey personally to send the lawyers letters of character to file with the judge. If you want the guidelines and details, hit us up at cscommittee@proton.me.
More evidence entered into discovery
As a reminder: the US Attorney has entered substantial new material into the discovery that can be used against the Casey at sentencing. This new evidence includes large amount of recordings of phone call audio and copies of correspondence between Casey and supporters obtained via the jail’s monitoring of communications. This is concerning, but let it serve as a reminder that all comms into jails and prisons are actively monitored and that it is incumbent upon everyone to maintain responsible communication habits.
Letters
Letters are always appreciated but note that correspondence is also challenging due to 2-4 week delays in receiving mail.

Visits Visits are very appreciated by Casey! They can be in person at the jail or by video. For all the details for scheduling in person or video visits: https://www.alamedasheriff.gov/community/santa-rita-jail-visiting
Support the Casey Goonan Legal Defense Fund
Casey is still in need of ongoing support to cover legal costs, restitution and fines. Though they’ve had some great support, we have a ways to go. In addition to the cost of legal defense, sentencing will definitely mandate substantial restitution and fines. Thank you so much to all those who have already contributed and organized support! Link below.
Some ways to support: – Throw fundraising events and raffles
– Spread the word, share posts, and directly contact large donors.
– Print up a QR code for the Chuffed account, share the details of the case and the legal defense fund while tabling at events
– Send funds directly to the Chuffed account at https://chuffed.org/project/SupportCasey
You can reach out to us at cscommittee@proton.me or the freecaseynow Instagram for any questions about collaboration, promotion, or guidance on fundraising.
Love and struggle,

As always, an insular subculture lacks the practical communications chops and awareness of the world outside to tell those of us who will never slurp forties with you what the accused is being accused of.

A very quick search reveals this information fully without even having to click through a single link.

The mountain doesn't come to Mohammed here, and you lot aren't Mohammed in any case. Adolescent narcissism rules O.K. I guess. You wouldn't want to break your uninterrupted record of never successfully communicating anything to anybody.

Thanks, but my point still sails over the top of your head. If this stuff isn't just for the passive consumption of your fellow self-involved subculture habitués, then you need to include this info in every public statement about the case. The same applies to all cases like this.
This might tend to give the goal of freeing the accused more public visibility, perhaps increasing their chances of being sprung, as well as draw attention to the larger questions at stake here.
Got it? I'm not going to type it again more slowly...

PS to last: I tried cutting and pasting the link above; it demands that I subscribe to the Berkeley Scanner before I can read the article.
Congratulations on a job predictably well done once again. I still don't know anything about this person's case.

your point doesn't sail over my head. i agree that the folks who wrote this didn't give enough background info. but i'm also not butthurt about people who have a lot gonig on not doing a good job at everything, and i know supporting prisoners is a hard and usually thankless job, which people like you are part of, apparently.

It would take about one minute to give a capsule account of the facts of the case. If someone has the time to write the rest of this they almost certainly have the time to do that. And in some ways this is a bit of a red herring, the real issue being the consistent practical lack of engagement with the larger world outside.
