Re-Opening of Meuterei – in memory of Kyriakos Xymitiris

From Act for Freedom Now! - Berlin, Germany

By reopening Meuterei one more time we want to bring to the present those collective momentsthat brought closer the idea that other worlds are possible. Also we choose Meuterei becauseKyriakos was part of this collective. One of our spaces that got evicted 4 years ago. A placethat was not only a bar, it was a place of collective meeting and sharing; a place where social and political events where organized; a place to celebrate our friendship and comradeship.

With this action we want to commemorate that for a long time Kyriakos walked together with us in the struggles of Berlin. Together we defended our selforganized spaces and we fought against the process of gentrification that consum this city and changes it social geography benefiting some, while expelling the poor and marginalized people. Through Interkiezionale we confronted this process fighting together with other collectives against evictions. We stood against the establishment of, so called, danger zones that only pretend to secure while oppress those who don’t fit in the standards of a hipster- and touristified city We fought in the streets to reclaim our subversive and political ideas through the defence of Liebig34, Syndikat, Potse, Meuterei, Kopi Wagenplatz and Rigaer 94. We remember those times with nostalgia, but also with the powerful thoughts that if one time we were able to confront the State and his mercenaries with fierceness, we can and we will do it again.

And what would better moment then the Wagenplatz days, We Wheel Survive II? TheWagenplatz, as a way of living opposite to the predominant culture of property, are facingthreats of eviction. We want to unite our struggles one more time to tell to the city of the rich that we are still here and we are still resisting. We continue connecting struggles, sharing ideas, building communities and defending alternatives ways of living. While most of the city own and continuously sold to landlords and housing companies we come together to confront it. We stay side by side with those who defend the last places and fight for a future which doesn’t belong to money, competition and self isolation – as Kyriakos did.

He was and will be forever one of us: in our sadness and also our happiness, in every openassembly or discussion, in every action against the State and Capital, in every stone againstcops, in every barricade, in the streets of fire. He inspires the steps of our fight for total liberation. As anarchist, he choose the path of a guerilla fighter. And we stand next to him in his decision to fight by all the means, because in front of a system full of misery and dead, anger in all it’s forms will be our answer.

Freedom for our comrades Marianna Manoura, Dimitra Z, Dimitris and Nikos Romanos!

Meuterei reopening – Kyriakos always in our hearts

On May 29 at 4:40 pm the mutiny was opened for the public (de.indymedia.org/node/513628). Many people took over the rooms and the street in solidarity. This was in memory of our beloved friend Kyriakos, who died in an explosion in Athens on Oct. 31. Kyriakos was a friend, a companion and a fighting soul who always stood by our side. We have many wonderful memories together in the Meuterei and on the streets – side by side for a better world. Our thoughts are also with our imprisoned friends and companions Marianna Manoura, Dimitra Z., Dimitris and Nikos Romanos. Until we can stand together again in freedom.

For over 5 hours, hundreds of people in solidarity stood up together in, around and in front of the Meuterei. Loudly, militantly and with burning hearts. Some people were detained on site and five people were driven away by the cops. Watch out for updates and show solidarity!

The Meuterei was a place where we could make plans together, stand by each other and forget the time on one or two evenings.

The rooms are now to be used as a studio. Philipp thinks that his urge to self-express needs the space here in Kreuzberg (de.indymedia.org/node/498211). We say, nobody needs you and your shit here! We’ll show you creativity on the street!

Let’s keep fighting, take back the city and be there for each other!

Forever in our hearts Kyriakos Xymitiris.

Freedom for Marianna Manoura, Dimitra Z., Dimitris and Nikos Romanos!

-Meuterei-Kollektiv-
