or whatever it was Billie Eilish said

In the outside world where trees grow and birds sing, young people refer to role models in pop culture who have troublesome characteristics or pasts as "problematic faves."
This is a term that acknowledges an individual's imperfection while still embracing the person as being more than the sum of their shortcomings.

Over in anarchyland, it seems that every time something cool happens some nerd has to ruin it for everyone and make a big deal about how the person who did it is Really Bad Actually. As we all know, someone who does bad things is incapable of doing good things.

In the cases where the person doing cool shit explicitly calls themselves an anarchist, anarchists will waste no time finding all the ways they aren't actually anarchists.
In the cases where the person doing cool shit does NOT call themselves an anarchist, anarchists will spend their time finding all the reasons not to care about them since they're not one of us.

You can't even send a care package or take a leisurely drive through town without people scrutinizing every stance you've taken on every issue. It seems any time anyone reaches for the sky, anarchists are here to drag them right back down to earth.

Nobody is safe from the judgmental gaze of anarchists, ESPECIALLY the people who act out on what we talk about.

Do you have a Problematic Fave? Do you think there is an anarchist Fave that is Problematic?
Can this most recent round of Cool Shit Happening remain being Cool Shit if the man behind the act gets caught and turns out to be a right-winger? Or worse, a LIBERAL?
Does it matter if the person doing something is an anarchist if the thing that was done is in line with anarchistic desire?
Can one's art be separated from its artist? Can one's actions stand on their own merit? Are we doomed to endless debates on optics and the impurity of the observed?
How much should an anarchist give a fuck about someone else's motives?
Or is none of this shit even cool to you at all?

Oh no people are having opinions about people and things and other people are of the opinion that those people shouldn't have those opinions about those people and things! Let's exchange our opinions on the matter as anarchists so that we may regulate and synchronize our ways!

lumpy (not verified) Mon, 12/09/2024 - 16:20

is this post supposed to be sarcasm? who's in on the little joke at this point?

i'm old enough to remember when we were all not bothering to check who was joking and who was uncritically accepting some pretty sketchy politics but those were naive times. it was stupid and misguided. we mistook mindless, misanthropic alienation for something more interesting. the era of the edgelord getting cred for being edgy, just for the hell of it, has born some rotten fruit.

why reference ted kaczynski and killdozer guy uncritically? how is that possibly a good idea?

don't get me wrong, i think they're both fascinating case studies but if you don't draw conclusions at the end, you're a jackass with no meaningful analysis at all. so therefore, don't be a fukin coward, take a position. how does this shit align with your values or not?

and if it does, next question should probably be: why do you think reactionary extremists going on personal vendetta jags is the same thing as anarchism? why is your analysis such a steaming pile of shit? do better. the edgelord's diagnosis has arrived in the mail and it's just boring. it's a transparent attempt to make being an angry loser in to something meaningful. it's an unhealthy dopamine loop, supercharged by the internet. that's all it is. we live in a society maaan, etc

and if you find yourself seriously asking if motives matter at all, talk to a fukin therapist cuz you're in the wrong place. that ain't politics OR anti-politics. it's just turning being an angry loser in to yet ANOTHER identity, which is still kind of like liberalism but somehow even more toxic.

a dark road that goes nowhere, except sometimes death cults or suicide or a stochastic little tempter tantrum, also ultimately meaningless, just like the edgelord is always arguing everything is ... because the alternative is just too painful so you fleeeee! down the dark little path to nowhere, constantly telling yourself that people who bother to think harder are the fools. certainly not you!

Ah, fellow armchair warriors of the Digital Frontlines! Grab your battle helmets, your irony grenades, and your vintage PlayStation controllers because we’re about to venture into the most absurd post-modern skirmish of the consciousness—where sarcasm meets the trenches and enlightenment has a nervous breakdown in the middle of the battlefield!

Remember simpler days? When the biggest threat was whether or not a banana could be considered a weapon—spoiler alert: it can if you throw it hard enough! Back then, our greatest confusion involved differentiating between the *edgelord* and the *edge-lord*, the latter being a slightly more respectable figure dedicated to extreme lawn care. Ah, innocence!

And now look where we are, comrades in chaos, casually quoting Ted Kaczynski like he’s some sort of twisted fortune cookie! “Take wisdom from the Unabomber,” they say, sipping their artisanal avocado lattes of doom. Honestly, if the Kaczynski references aren’t part of your Tinder bio, are you even trying to be edgy in this saturated market of bad taste?!

But listen here, it’s not enough to just play with the big names like some sort of cerebral Jenga—without conclusions, you’re just some jackass on a soapbox yelling at pigeons, throwing crayons and hoping for enlightenment! So strap those big-boy mindfulness helmets on: if you’re standing in the muck and bizarre ideology and not taking a stand, you might as well be a sentient dust bunny—minus the charm!

And let’s address the ‘why?’ behind the madness of reactionaries flipping their metaphoric tables and claiming it all falls under the banner of “anarchism.” Sweet, chaotic lambs of the internet, is your analysis a soggy cereal bowl of nonsense? Are you living in a never-ending sitcom where the punchline is always "more angst, please"? News flash: Just because it’s chaotic doesn’t mean it’s anarchistic—no, it’s merely a Friday-night improv show going horribly wrong!

It’s simply not okay to turn bitter, digitally-schooled rage into your new identity—it’s just reinvented biohazardous liberalism with more nihilism sprinkled on top like confetti at a funeral.

So here we sit, dear warriors, navigating this dark road that spirals down into a vortex of personal vendettas and existential dread! Sure, it might eventually lead to death cult meetings or spontaneous lawnmower races fueled by the thrill of “who can yell the loudest while crying,” but remember: at the end of the day, you’re still a dude in his mom’s basement, wondering why the void isn’t filling the existential holes in your quest for meaning!

So if you find yourself asking if motives matter, my friend, it’s therapy time! Call ‘Dr. GigaWatt’s Self-Care Emporium’ right away because boy, are you mixing your hellish cocktail of identity with a dash of “I’d rather throw my brain into a dumpster.” And for goodness sake, do you want to become just another trope in this endless saga of emotional dumpster fires? You definitely do NOT!

Now saddle up, let’s ride this surreal vapid wave of chaos, and discover that, just like the edgelord’s convoluted rants, we might just end up falling face-first into the silly abyss of oblivion—where taxes are optional and cookies are always a valid form of currency!

to me lumpy, those examples are people who found a decent lever to enact a little of their autonomy, for a short time. it demonstrates well that the holes in authority are always there waiting to be exploited. yes it often has devastating effects for the actors involved, but with a little more tactical coherence maybe they could've gotten away with it. in control society all you can do is schism out a bit, and then schism back again as a good boy, unless you want to live a short fugitive life. but the examples here simply failed to deschism effectively and thus got shut down

... again, anarchy isn't just a few moments of power.

the theories are much more complex than that, you're just self reporting if you think a random guy who got pissed at the city council and built a home-made tank is about anarchy. it's fukin awesome and instructive, just to be clear BUT the guy's politics were basically angry small-business owner, which is extremely boring

Yes, anarchy is a libertarian-socialist confederacy of municipalities and workers cooperatives aimed at bringing forth the communist revolution through bureaucracy and day-long assemblies.

Actually this film is way more relevant than it was at the time of its release... But what you're not asking yourself is why some guys follow this course of action, instead of "Power to the ASSemblies!". Like you missed the whole analysis on (*scuffle*, right) post-modernity, and more accurately on that quote from that Vonnegut book Luigi got into.. about the American poor being stuck in a collective morality of blaming themselves, and each other, for being poor.

...that isn't alien to the shaming by some ancoms of "lumpen" practices like dumpster-diving and lifting... or higher crimes like shooting CEOs. Seems like the wannabe-aristocrats (I know all your secrets, liberal bourgies!) could be lowering your standards for "anarchist purity"

who is the main character in this film? he's an engineer for a weapons contractor. why does he lose his shit? because he snaps under the suburban strain of the american dream. it's implied that he was always a psychopath in the scene where his wife explains to a cop that she was always scared of him, the strange way he would eat silently, while staring in to space.

the final scene is him finally having a moment of self awareness, being like "wait, am i the bad guy?!" because the cop calls him out for planning to murder/suicide his wife and kid.

the point of the movie is pretty clearly NOT - isn't it cool how he mocks the yuppie golfer as he dies? although i love that scene, cuz it's hilarious!

But the point of the movie is it's an edgelord power fantasy about running around, terrifying and killing random people, to finally feel special and powerful. Just identifying with michael douglas' character is a total self-own... so i don't know if that's what you're saying but the guy literally threatens and/or shoots a bunch of poor people so ... pretty sure you're self-owning bro

U thought I was Z or some other lesser-known troll!? Just mildly amusing when you go around trying to dox people like you're the FBI...

Commenter at 12:57 brought up the Trans claim, which anywhere before this ID pols went big on social media (at least like prior to roughly 2015) wasn't even a topic. Why so? Because they found out post-mortem that Teddy K. was secret Trans? How exactly can you be Trans and closeted at the same time, again? U mean like he was formerly a woman?

Ok ok.. perhaps Teddy K was gay. But Trans.... that's novelty.

So then I don't see how a closeted gay person cannot be an InCel, which otherwise can be pretty fitting. Pretty sure that's the case with Nick Fuentes for instance.

And noooo, I don't think I ever had an issue with a Trans person. Had pretty good relations with a few on the other hand, and even one flirt at some point. I'm just tired of these outdated neolib ID politics around it.

Who was communicating with the FBI via newspaper ads?
More important questions than are being asked here.

you take repressed sexuality, add reactionary politics and self aggrandizement, next thing you know, you're seizing a military base and committing ritual suicide when it becomes clear that your "plan" was a bit murky towards the end.

or you sulk in a cabin and be angry at your parents and mail bombs to strangers or whatever

Mishima is one of the most prolific and celebrated Japanese authors of the 20th century; who's magnum opus, Sun and Steel -- has no doubt gone on to change an untold number of people's lives for the better. Not to mention, he was built like an absolute Chad, and went on to actually carry out the daring type of direct action that contempirary NA insurrecto-posers can only dream of. Not to mention, his committing hara kiri in the end was, no doubt, to his samurai way of mind -- a beautiful and glorious death.

I bet he was happy.

You, on the other hand... who tf are you exactly?

Some grotesque 40-something who literally trolls @news all day on McDonald's free wifi while living under a highway overpass? What have you achieved? What's your legacy? Will anyone remember you after you die your most-likely ignominious, decidedly non-heroic death even 20 minutes later? If anybody here is a sad, pathetic loser-- it's clearly you.

I bet you're a miserable person.

Neither of you understand Mishima at all. Not some esoteric comment. The way you're both describing his projects and ideas shows you've read none of it or have zero compression. I'd describe him as an absurdist or a surrealist, easily. There's a tendency to miss the underlying irony with these sorts of narratives and misinterpret it as blowhard.

You can go onto any English language social media and see hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people who are saying similar things to what this guy was.
