About

The PM Press Warehouse at 21 Emma Street in Binghamton, NY will be hosting the Third Annual Upstate Anarchist Book Fair on May 2nd and 3rd, 2026.

*** Rain or Shine ***

In celebration of International Workers’ Day, the two-day fair will feature book/zine vendors, a warehouse sale, community organizations, two full days of panels, live music from the loading dock, and much more. All are welcome to join us in creating community, sharing skills and passions, and debating the best way to overthrow the (patriarchal, racist, cis het) capitalist system.

The book fair is an opportunity not only to sell and promote but to create community. You don’t need to identify as an anarchist to attend or participate in the book fair!

Why an Upstate Anarchist Book Fair in Binghamton, NY?

The practical reason: PM Press bought a 17,000 square ft warehouse in Binghamton in 2021. We also purchased a used bookstore – Autumn Leaves – in Ithaca, NY. Over the last few years, we’ve filled the warehouse with racks on racks of leftist literature (both PM Press and other comrade publishers). Today it is surely one of the largest repositories of leftist literature in the world. We also have a big parking lot, a developing event space, and connections to a local DIY community with the skills to put together a fun, productive, and thoughtful event.

The political reason: Binghamton is the post-industrial crater left by anti-union, paternalistic warmongers like IBM and the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company. The former headquarters of the New York KKK and current epicenter of upstate mass incarceration, Binghamton is, like many small Rust Belt cities, run by reactionaries who grew up in the city’s golden age and are convinced we’re just a few tax breaks and drug raids away from a return to 1959. We also have a small but dedicated community of activists fighting to liberate Binghamton from these slumlord/cop/petit bourgeois business creep/political elite overlords. We hope events like the UABF will bring together like-minded comrades and crews from across the region to share knowledge, skills, and joy to expand our little networks of radical agitation into a collective force that can challenge capitalism across the county, state, and beyond!

Who should be applying?

Publishers, booksellers, authors, zine-makers, distros, mutual aid projects, activist organizations, and creators of all stripes to show off your wares, share your projects, and promote your events are welcome. We had a strong showing from Upstate NY and Northern PA last year, something we’d like to see even more this year. The book fair is an opportunity not only to sell and promote but to create community. You don’t need to identify as an anarchist to participate in the book fair! May Day is for everyone!*

*Some exclusions apply 🐷

What’s new this year?

Plans for this year include more workshops, local organizations, food vendors, musical performances, and a dance party! We are extending the day by two hours this year, but the book fair will still be 12noon to 6pm.

The Space

The book fair will take place inside and outside the PM Press warehouse at 21 Emma St in Binghamton, NY. This year, vendors can choose a 10 x 10 space outside in the parking lot or reserve one or more tables in an indoor space. Load in will be in the morning of Saturday, May 2nd, and vendors will be able to drive into the parking lot for easy unload. Outside vendors are are encouraged to bring their own tents or large umbrellas. The book fair is rain or shine. Indoor vendors will be able to leave their materials inside overnight (at your own risk of course). Outdoor vendors will need to break down their space and set it back up Sunday morning.

Fee Structure

Indoor tables are 6 feet and $50 each. 10x10 outdoor vendor spots are $125 each and get one 6 foot table. If you need more tables outside, please bring them. Indoor vendors can have more than one table (up to 3 tables) and outdoor vendors can have more than one 10x10 spot. No 10x10 tents will be provided for outdoor vendors, and no chairs will be provided for inside or outside vendors, so please bring your own. We have lots of tables, but we encourage outdoor vendors to bring their own tables, and it might be a good idea for indoor vendors to bring a table, just in case.

For publishers who can't make it in person: PM Press can rep books for publishers who want their books be represented at the book fair but cannot staff a table. The fee is $100, and we'll connect after completing this form.
