really? the election? voting?
that is just some tired-asses stuff right there.
do we really need to talk about inventing the wheel over and over?

Oh no! People are talking about things I do not think they should be talking about I will tell them about it! I am a very smart anarchist participant.

oh yeah, i was waiting for that perennial response that sounds dumber every time i hear it. it is why it never gets any better.... once again for the new folks!!! how did they ever find their way here?

... why do you need to keep asking a question where the answer "sounds dumber" every time?

so you hang around the front door, heckling anyone new and anyone who tries to help them?

extremely cool story!

no, i also love to poke fun at the one's who have been here way too long as well...

look. seriously. as long as anarchists feel the obligation to stay 101 endlessly, it will remain that way.

there has been enough said along those lines, say something new and controversial, that's what anarchists should be doing, pushing not pulling.

anonymous (not verified) Mon, 10/28/2024 - 15:49

i agree that "staying 101" endlessly is ridiculous. but not all projects do all things. some people can be doing 101. other people can be doing other things. and the people who do 101 can do it well or badly. is your actual problem that you think this conversation about voting is not a good one?

anon (not verified) Tue, 10/29/2024 - 08:47

In reply to by anonymous (not verified)

yes, this conversation is not a good one. why single out one of so many reformative ways every 4 years to criticize, as if it is any different or more important? policy, politics, and politicians are not ours to respond to. they are all enemies of the same lot. move on. but anarchists can't because they are too knee-jerk and at the end of the day still want to be part of society.

i'm irritated that i feel the urge to respond to your simplistic offers here, but so it goes. first, not ALL anarchists do this.

second, one singles out some things because they are relevant to the times, or to some of the people you think might be open to different ideas, or because you're tired of people making bad arguments and you want to refute them all coherently in one place.

i bet you can come up with some reasons yourself, if only you weren't playing simple-minded for the internet.

yeah, like i implied before, it's completely bad faith or else it's asinine but i guess the mods felt i was being "mean" or whatever, which is also not the point but here we are!

Endless 101 or fast food theory can be frustrating, but the Uncivilized project does far more than that. Occasionally revisiting the basics is important and we explain that early on.

Anarchist anti-electoralism typically falls into the same limited box as most anarchist activism: appealing (implicitly if not explicitly) to liberals and leftists while missing the point almost entirely. Every time the bourgeois electoral circus rolls around, plenty of anarchists can be found to debate one side or other of the “question” of voting (usually with arguments at least a century old); I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anarchist anti-electoral propaganda addressing the huge swath of the public that *already doesn’t vote.*

Hello, fellow anarchist. Tell us you've never heard of CrimethInc. without explicitly saying it.

Crimethinc stopped being relevant a long time ago, and in the era youre referring to it was basically only aimed at punx, so I don’t really get your point.

Not gate keeping shit I just never hear about them anymore vs. twenty years ago their stuff was everywhere. And it was very punk oriented even though they took the aesthetic in some different directions. I know they got into writing really long boring essays for a while after that. Are they really still active?

Why?

Coz you don't know how to thread your replies.
