Festival of the 16th of August, a celebration of folk music in memory of the anarchist SANTE GERONIMO CASERIO
We started this almost as a game. With few resources and a lot of enthusiasm. As a game, indeed. Perhaps we did it above all for ourselves, to have a moment's respite in the midst of the Maremma heat. Not so much because we had anything to say, but to listen to the thousand stories: the ancient ones, to be repeated to remember, and those of resistance to the bitter end. Stories of concrete utopias. Keeping alive the memory of these rebellious hills, full of people accustomed to handling dynamite and defending their rights. Thanks to the forest and the water, it has remained a manageable, communal experience, without force and few invasions. An "INTELLIGENT AND CONSCIOUS HOLIDAY," capable of welcoming those who rebel, those who don't agree and dream of something else. Participation and collaboration have been our greatest satisfaction. Now in our tenth year, we ventured to do a whole week. We slow everything down to give ourselves time to listen, understand, and discuss. It's time to leave a mark, to make an impact. To relaunch. We await suggestions and fusions. Musical but also other… As the founder of
FestivalSedicid'Agosto I just want to say thank you, and I'll explain why. In 2022, at the sixth
edition of the Festival, life events forced me to leave Italy. At that point, the Festival would have died, but fortunately, Giampiero and Flavia were there. Giampiero and Flavia, who have participated in organizing the Festival since the beginning, took the reins and have continued the Festival, improving it, until its tenth edition. So I feel it is right and a great pleasure to thank Giampiero and Flavia and everyone who has participated and will continue to participate in the FestivalSedicid'Agosto. This year too, we look forward to seeing you in large numbers and with great enthusiasm, and as Giampiero says, "Let's make our voices heard." Thank you all, Jonni
