"They write, dear comrades, what suits them [...] also because the real actors are never there, the masses do not appear, so history is misrepresented and it seems that the conquests that cost rivers of blood were the work of an elite."
- Adriana Dadà, 2005

We’re now just a few days until the zinefair! We’d like to remind everyone that while we’ve got a few ideas for discussions, please feel free to come and start your own, or lead your own workshop, or give your own impromptu skill share. We’ve scheduled a few things, but we won’t be sad if, as a collective, we decide to do something else. We want to create a space where there isn’t a divide between the givers and takers, teachers and students, zine makers and zine readers.

There’s finally good news about the threat that the Long Haul radical community center will be torn down to build an 8 story apartment building. Slingshot has had its offices at Long Haul for more than 30 years. After all the other tenants in the building moved out in January, the landlord announced that they’re now accepting applications to fill the vacant spaces — with no mention of tearing the building down.

Daniel Andreas San Diego has been wanted by the FBI in connection with two bombings which took place in San Francisco in 2003 claimed by Revolutionary Cells – Animal Liberation Brigade, simliar to the Animal Rights Militia in the UK, that ignores the Animal Liberation Front’s policy of taking all necessary precautions to avoid harm to human life. The two bombs were placed at the offices of biotechnology corporation Chiron Inc. in Emeryville, California, in August 2003. The first bomb detonated early in the morning, while the second, which was set to detonate an hour after the initial blast, was found and defused before it went off. Chiron Inc. was targetted for its links to Huntingdon Life Sciences (now Inotiv), the animal torturers and killers who were targetted by the Animal Liberation Front (A.L.F.) and campaigned against by Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC).

This obituary of a beloved Oakland anarchist we lost over three years ago was written for an issue of a magazine that did not go to print. Although we are a bit late getting it out into the world, her life was beautiful and her legacy is timeless.

I showed up to People’s Park a day after UC Berkeley had erected their 17-foot wall of shipping containers and deployed what must have been over 100 fully armed cops to stand guard on all of the perimeters. I was with some friends, all of whom happen to be skaters. Some were there for the amassing protest, while others were just stopping by 510 (a skate shop on telegraph) on their way home from work.
