In the wake of draconian sentences handed down to the Prairieland 8, each ranging from 30 to 100 years, much has been said about the role of Trump’s NSPM-7 in establishing new repressive tools for criminalizing activism. Less discussed has been the critical role of cooperation—by at least 6 of the Prairieland defendants—in securing these devastating convictions. While the terrain of repression is ever changing, what remains evergreen is our most powerful tool of anti-repression: the principle of non-cooperation with the state.

In response to the statement we published from Fire Ant Movement Defense, we received the following submission from Eric King, an anarchist and former political prisoner who spent nearly a decade behind bars.

Eric King spent almost ten years as a federal prisoner. King was arrested in 2014 for an attempted arson conducted in Kansas City in solidarity with the people of Ferguson, Missouri following the police murder of the teen-age Mike Brown. King’s actions caused little damage — the molotov cocktails failed at their task — and harmed nobody. But King’s unrepentant anarchist politics, and attendant recalcitrance in the face of his captors, led to his incarceration at ADX Florence, the so-called “Alcatraz of the Rockies” and the last stop for the supposed “worst of the worst” in the federal prison system.

Following nearly ten years of incarceration and numerous attempts by the State to frame, murder, and break him – anarchist prisoner Eric King has now been released and is headed to a half-way house “for several weeks,” reports supporters.
Vegan anarchist prisoner Eric King, incarcerated since 2014, will soon be released from prison, hopefully before/in February 2024. The fundraiser for Eric’s release has almost reached its goal. If you can help, all donations will go to Eric and help him get back on his feet outside the prison walls.
