Some notes on the spread of morality and sacred cows

Humorless, self-righteous, intolerant, cringe-worthy. Ten years ago these words would have aptly described the Christian Right. Their very serious allegiance to silly ideas like God and patriotism made them an easy target to mock and troll. But now, said labels bring to mind awkward privilege confessions and the moralistic tone of social justice-oriented Leftists. What’s happened in such a short time to cause this total reversal?

Anarchy Bang: Episode 20 - Dad is very disappointed in you

From Anarchy Bang

This week we discuss aging out of the anarchist space. We have always known that anarchism in the late 20th and early 21st century has more in common with subcultures like punk than political organs like the Communist Party or even the RCP. That means there is a natural 10 year arc and then you are done. The "old punk" option is available for a few, like tattoo artists or maybe someone with a record label, but mostly it is 10 and done. What does that look like in anarchyland? When do we know we are too old? What does it look like when you don't get the message that the kids don't want you around any more? Distracting essay that relates to but is separate from the point of this weeks essay but we'll read if we get no calls...

Perhaps the easiest question ever asked: “Would you like your coffee with or without cops?”

“Coffee with a Cop,” a public relations event by Hamilton Police, found itself competing for attention with “Coffee without Cops.”

The plucky group of anarchists set up outside the entrance to Cafe Oranje in downtown Hamilton, handing out free coffee and snacks to passersby, along with information about the HPS’ abuses of civilians.

On April 24, the Turin Court of Assizes issued the first instance sentence for the “Scripta Manent” trial (which followed the repressive operation in which five comrades were arrested on September 6, 2016, and two others received notification of pre-trial detention while they were already in prison for the attack against Roberto Adinolfi of May 7, 2012).

New zine: Gender After Civilization

"This journal is intended to dispel a prominent myth within the wider anarchist community: that of the-so called "forest TERF." That is, the idea that anti-civilization anarchists are exclusionary of those who are trans* or gender non-conforming. This, of course, we know to be a falsehood: because we are queer and we stand against civilization. We believe that this myth is, ironically, detrimental to queer lives for a number of reasons.
