New Writing From Jeremy: What Really Happened At FCI Milan

From Free Jeremy by Jeremy Hammond

This new piece of writing from Jeremy further details the horror of the of the situation that he endured at FCI Milan involving his alleged assault of a guard. Through it, we have learned that Jeremy (thankfully) at least had a cellmate at least part of the time, but that the situation was, sadly, even more convoluted than any of us on the outside ever could have imagined. Prison truly is cruel by its very nature, and that is something no amount of reform will ever fix. We must strive for abolition if we ever hope for true justice.

Anarchy Bang: Introducing Episode Nine - Anarchist Principles

From Anarchy Bang

This week we will try to have an conversation about anarchist principles. In a forgotten past anarchist principles were how anarchists didn't participate in infighting. We were in solidarity with each other. We helped a comrade out (with our marginal resources) because we believed that it was through mutual aid that we were stronger than those who did not have the Beautiful Idea. And because it all mattered we associated with each other freely (including in love). How has this past sensibility informed anarchist practice today and how have things changed? Do we still maintain the old principles or has the anarchist space gotten too large and only local team principles apply? Has media (especially so-called social media) made things better or worse?

“The Rich Will Never Let You Vote Away Their Wealth” – Victorian Socialists; An Anarchist Response

With the looming federal election, the campaign circus ramps up again. ASF Geelong contributes this article in order to clarify its anti-electoral stance. This is made more important given the development of new electoral groupings in Victoria drawing substantial support from activists on the far left.

The Brilliant: Episode 93 - The Fight for Turtle Island

From The Brilliant

I (Aragorn! the host of this podcast) put together a book. It is not a book about me. It is about a dozen other people who are, in some way, the audience for and content of the book. It was a real challenge putting it together as the interview subjects did not conform to the framing I eventually put on the book. Most of the conversations were about people, biographies, and local challenges. The book is about an epic fight for Turtle Island that is invisible to most people. It is about memory, family, and the future of a livable planet.

The Local Kids - Issue 3

From The Local Kids

Life is separated into different phases; as you pass through the years, you are supposed to move on, to progress. One part of life is dedicated to education and exploration, inspired by the naivety and idealism of the inexperienced. Another is about application and comfort, framed by the maturity and pragmatism of the learned. Eventually you arrive at accomplishment and can reap the rewards of a fulfilled life. Only maybe temporarily upset by some (un)desired reskilling and the uncertainty that the future holds. At least that’s how it should be. Or should it?

Freedom Always Comes With a Knife Clenched Between the Teeth

The anarchist who has been taken hostage by the State is our comrade. In solidarity with him, we continue to combine liberating thought with destructive acts, never losing sight of our enemy. In solidarity with all anarchists facing repression, we continue onwards on the revolutionary paths of the only war worth fighting: the war against all oppressors and exploiters, the war for freedom. Let’s give life the exquisite elevation of the rebellion of our hands and spirits.

TOTW: Evidence

In the old days we used to call up citizen tribunals to determine guilt or innocence. Or perhaps that was just in movies. I guess we don't know an awful lot about how truth is determined in this world but the news, and the nightly stories about the news seem to have decided that a lot of conjecture and politicking seems to be involved. It is unclear how much that is true but it sure seems to be true and that is more than half the battle.

A Workers' Party and Elections or Class Struggle?

Clearly many people on the Left think the real goal is to achieve state power to realise the promises of the future. In reality this means building a political party and pouring a substantial amount of resources – human and financial – into its development. Many also believe that a Left party, however problematic, would be better than the existing parties, particularly those of the radical right and populists promoting race essentialism and xenophobia, who foment fear of and between different social groupings. History is not too kind, however, to the belief that political parties are vehicles of radical, progressive, socialist transformation.
