Starting in 2008, the Belgian State carried out a large investigation aiming at different struggles that were in conflict with detention centres, borders, prisons and the world of authority and exploitation – always without concessions. In its sights: the anarchist library Acrata, anarchist and anti-authoritarian publications (Hors Service, La Cavale and Tout doit partir), dozens of flyers and posters, more than a hundred actions, attacks and acts of sabotage…in other words, the fight against Power in all its different expressions.
Sean has been denied parole and his supporters are fundraising to cover legal costs to challenge this travesty. Thus begin SWAINIAC FEST 2021!!!

Some of those overseeing Montréal’s Anarchist Bookfair have lost the plot. They have banned the city’s only English language anarchist publisher from participating on the grounds they’ve published my recent books.

On a casual stroll among the rows of houses and storefronts during my all-too-short shift break, I noticed for a moment how the weatherbeaten jumble of townhouses jammed together from block to block would occasionally – and troublingly, increasingly – give way to the drab monoliths of modern condo apartments. Although so common now it has become unremarkable, upon meditation one cannot help but recognize that these bland structures serve as the symbolic and the material manifestation the violent force of capital attempting to fully dominate and shape our lives.

In Greece, while the worst wildfires in decades raged out of control this summer, COVID-19 cases have spiked, driven by an economy reliant on tourism and an anti-vaccine movement similar to the one in the United States. Meanwhile, in its position as one of Europe’s immigration gatekeepers, the Greek government continues to pursue an authoritarian response to a humanitarian crisis. Yet ecological catastrophes may soon put many Greeks in the same situation that refugees entering Greece face today.

Very rarely does a piece of legislation offer us a decent solution to the issues it claims to address, but this seems like one of those rare times. So please, contact your congresscritters and pressure them into voting yes on the Break the Cycle of Violence Act.

Developing an Anarchist Response to the Covid Crisis
A common criticism levelled at the modern anarchist movement is its lack of relevance to the lives of the working class. As an anarchist this is a criticism I largely agree with. Although I believe that anarchism as a social theory and revolutionary strategy has much to offer our class, overall anarchist ideas have little presence amongst the majority of workers today. Many opponents of anarchism tend to write this off as a fundamental defect of anarchism, proof that anarchism is a petit-bourgeois ideology, and that throughout history the working class has inherently known to reject it.
