Actions Against Energy Companies

from Anarquía

BARCELONA – MADRID, SPAIN: ACTIONS AGAINST ENERGY COMPANIES AS PART OF THE WEEK OF AGITATION AGAINST THE DEVASTATION AND THE RISE OF ELECTRICITY .

Energy companies represent the infrastructure and monopoly of capital in its maximum extension, both in its operation and exploitation (human, animal and land), as a device of social control, in addition to pollution at all levels. On the other hand, the situation of dispossession and devastation of ecosystems and communities that have made these industries in ABYA YALA (Latin America) are catastrophic, so we consider it urgent to attack them, make them visible, and destroy them.

from It's Going Down

Cuban Anarchists On Context and Importance of the Recent Wave of Protests

On this episode of the It’s Going Down podcast, we speak with an anarchist from Cuba and a Cuban-American anarchist living in Miami about the recent wave of protests which have swept the island over the last few weeks. While the demonstrations took everyone by surprise, our guests argue that they are historic in that they represent a ground swell of working-class anger that has manifested itself in demonstrations, clashes with the police, and looting; activity which has not taken place on the island for decades.

Review of Laursen's new book on anarchism and the state

"The operating metaphor: a clickbait title for what passes for theory"

from Anarkismo by Wayne Price

His overriding metaphor of the state is as a master operating system. Whatever its advantages in showing society as dynamic and interacting, it leads to underestimating the internal conflicts within the society, such as between capitalists and the state. Particularly, it leads to downplaying the class conflict within capitalism. The book is also weak in considering what an alternate social system might be like.

Announcing the Counter-Surveillance Resource Center

Announcing the Counter-Surveillance Resource Center, an online hub for building a culture of resistance against surveillance.

Around the world, anarchists and other rebels are subject to surveillance due to our activities. Surveillance can be carried out by state institutions or other actors – for example, private investigators, fascists, mercenaries, and law-abiding citizens. Surveillance can be intended to disrupt our activities, make arrests, secure convictions or worse.

International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners

from https://solidarity.international/

2021 // 23 – 30 August

This was a tough year and more is to come. In those times we need solidarity more then ever – in daily life, our neighborhoods, our communities. But we should not forget our comrades in prison, who fight for freedom and equality. They experience hard times right now. Because the pandemic isolates people in prison even more. For that, this year we call again for the International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners.

Cuba: the end of the "Revolution's" social enchantment

CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG ! ! ! !

via alasbarricadas, English translation by Anarchist News.

by Libertarian Workshop Alfredo López

Those who in the name of a future democracy or of the good functioning of the economy, come to discredit the affinities, the solidarity and the energies that sprung up in the protests, or reduce these events to “simple vandalism by libertines”, speak in name of, and with the language of the decrepit oligarchies that shamelessly raise their voice in our country once again.
