About an attack on a vaccination centre

from Brussels Indymedia via Attaque

Is it inconceivable that anarchists could have attacked anti-covid vaccination centres? Could it be that they did not want to risk being lumped in with the not always very nice, or even frankly problematic, critics who have gained in strength with the arrival of the pandemic? / Again, if someone has chosen not to accompany their action with words, are we sure we are the best ones to speak for them?

The History of the FAGC

from Organise Magazine

Theory and Analysis

The Federación Anarquista de Gran Canaria or FAGC celebrates its 10 years of existence this month. In the past we already translated a series of articles written by them outlining their ideological approach in what they call “neighbourhood anarchism”. But to celebrate this anniversary we decided to translate a summary of their history in these 10 years where they went from disrupting speeches by reforminist unions during the 15M square occupations to being the single entity in Gran Canaria that has facilitated more houses for people.

Burning churches, taking down statues

In different parts of the colonized territories, there's been tearing down, demolishing or destruction of statues of slavers, rapists, colonizers and genociders. Why let go of these symbols? What do they represent? And what values keeps them standing?

Insurgent Strategy on Immediatism podcast

Insurgent Strategy on Immediatism podcast

These five episodes are readings of three essays on insurgent strategy, from Insurgencies: A Journal on Insurgent Strategy, by The Institute for the Study of Insurgent Warfare. The first, What is Insurgency (episode 584) sets up our understanding of insurgent situations and practices. The second, A Life of Lies (episodes 585 and 586) discusses the construction of the self out of phenomenological experience, that we can not access others and so we construct our knowledge of them, goes on to discuss how law and law enforcement pose constant threats to the individual, and then identifies and discusses five methods of threat management for the individual. In the final essay, Some Thoughts on the Limits of Surveillance (episodes 587 and 588) the popular mental construction of the panopticon is explained and lamented as deterring people from acting in ways that are possible; the collection, analysis, weaponization, and operationalization of data are explained as processes that should empower us to identify the constant gaps in surveillance and to act in insurgent ways in those gaps.

Notes for a Preface

TRUCTING ANARC

from Libertarian Labyrinth by Shawn P. Wilbur

Constructing Anarchisms: Notes for a Preface

If asked, I generally say that I have been an anarchist for close to thirty years. And because of all the other things that I have been for much longer—a big nerd, basically—that has translated into nearly three decades of sometimes obsessive research into anarchist history and theory, art and literature, etc. At this point, it’s hard to imagine thinking of myself as anything other than an anarchist.

Deschooling: Unlearning to Learn

from CrimethInc.

From Education to Liberation

As students prepare to return to an increasingly dystopian learning environment, it’s a good time to revisit our assumptions about education itself. What is the purpose of our educational institutions? How deeply do the premises of those institutions shape the ways that we approach learning, even in our “free time”? How else might we go about developing and exploring our capacities?
