For Gianfranco Sanguinetti (1948-2025)

FromAutonomies

We only recently learned of Gianfranco Sanguinetti’s death, on October 3rd of this year. In a modest gesture of homage to this late member of the Italian Section of the Situationist International, we share below his classic text, On Terrorism and the State, in a translation by Bill Brown.

We Are a Conspiracy: 56 Notes on Red

From Black Ink

Because the history and practice of anarchism have been foundational to me—and because I’m aware of the toxicity of deadnames, the patriarchy embedded in surnames, and the trauma at the root of slavenames and government names—I have a high tolerance for anyone who, whatever the reason, changes their name. I read the shifting of Red’s name, over time, as a survival strategy; she was a Black woman in a country founded on, among other things, the abuse and erasure of Black women.

Anti-Japan

In the early 70s, a group of young people - including ex-student radicals, disaffected party communists, and anarchists - went to war the Japanese state and society in the name of abolishing Japan itself. The following is the opening essay to the pamphlet Anti-Japan by Max Res detailing their lives and struggles along with some reflection on their continued relevance today. You can find this essay along with a partial translation of their manifesto/guerilla manual Hara Hara Tokei on the anarchist library or purchase a physical copy from Viscera (viscerapvd@protonmail.com) and other fine retailers of anarchist literature.
