A statement by Bristol Anarchist Black Cross and Bristol Defendant Solidarity

We are writing this statement to make clear that we support those who have been sentenced today, and that we are proud of them for fighting back. We need to be ready to defend ourselves against the police, and stand with those facing repression and criminalisation.

Below you will see a short update on the situation with the repressions in Belarus with a focus on anarchists and antifascists. We will try to release these updates at the end of each month.

‘I Am An Anarchist’: Remembering Anarchist Prisoner Brian McCarvill, who Died of COVID-19 in Prison on his 68th Birthday

By MG Belka

The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) does not publicly release the names of people who died from complications caused by COVID-19 while inside one of their prisons. They say this is because of the desire for transparency while respecting the privacy of the deceased. They reiterate this policy every time another prisoner dies.

International Call For New Year’s Eve Noise Demonstrations

from NYC Anarchist Black Cross

This is a call for a night of strong solidarity with those imprisoned by the state. Historically, New Year’s Eve is one of the noisiest nights of the year. This year, most of which has been consumed by a global pandemic, we encourage folks to take whatever measures are necessary to insure individual and community well-being, in response to both the virus and the state, understanding the balance each of us must strike for ourselves. Given our current reality, on New Year’s Eve gather your crew, collective, community, organization, or just yourself to raise a racket and remind those on the inside that they are not alone.

Anarchist blogger Nikolai Dedok arrested in Belarus

From Anarchist Black Cross Belarus

“They threatened to rape, said they would take me to the Gestapo or the forest”.

Nikolai Dedok story, handed over to Radio Svaboda.

On November 12, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the arrest of anarchist blogger Nikolai Dedok. Then the press service of the department claimed that the detainee “actively cooperates with the investigating authorities and gives confessions.” At the same time, on the record, published together with the police press release, it is clear that Dedok was severely beaten. Now he is accused of organizing actions that grossly violate public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code). From the person with whom Dedok managed to talk in the detention centre on Akrestsina Street, “Mediazona” learned the details of the anarchist’s detention.

Interview on recent Protest in Poland

From Elephant in the Room

Abortion in Poland was legal during Communism and became illegal (with a few exceptions) after the political shift to democracy. Since then, feminists have been active in resisting the abortion law but with little success in gaining public support or influencing legislation.

Open letter in support of Belarus anarchist revolutionaries

from Anarchist Black Cross Belarus

We express our full support to the imprisoned anarchists and all Belarus people who have rebelled against the dictatorship and police violence and call for struggle for immediate release of IharAlinevich, Dzmitry Dubouski, Dzmitry Rezanovich, Siarhei Ramanau, as well as all political prisoners in Belarus. We call on all people who are not indifferent to spread information, organize actions of solidarity and resistance, any kind of pressure on all structures of Lukashenko’s regime, both in Belarus and abroad. Remember that the best support is to continue the struggle to which the arrested comrades devoted their lives.
