Elephant in the room – International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners

– International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners

A new decade has started on this planet. With the rise of right-wing movements and the slow decline of social democracy, we are looking into coming years of intense struggle with the state and capitalism. There are already many anarchists sitting in prisons for taking on this fight—forgotten or ignored by liberals and human rights NGOs for “violent” actions.

Hands to the Gunpowder!

via Anarchists Worldwide by Gustavo Rodriguez

That is why, when we declare that anarchic solidarity is more than words, we not only refer to our accomplices in their struggles and, to the economic and emotional support of our prisoners, but we also ratify the foundations of our struggle. Of course, there is no more appropriate support for our imprisoned comrades than to coordinate their escape or to blow up the bus that transports their jailers, but we don’t always have the means for these spectacular actions; nevertheless, there are many ways to show our support and to concretize solidarity with imagination. There are an infinite number of actions capable of obstructing the prison complex and these only require a little prior investigation in order to be carried out.

Letter from Anarchist Comrade Beppe

From Anarchists Worldwide

Pavia Prison, Italy: Letter from Anarchist Comrade Beppe

I am writing to report a serious situation (yet another!) that I found myself facing between the afternoon of July 3rd and midnight of July 4th! As you will be aware, I have been locked up since about a year in a cell alone in the «protected» section [a section where are held ex-cops, infamous, pedophiles, rapists, etc.] of Pavia’s jail!, I have always refused such placement by putting in place various forms of struggle (hunger strike, air strike, etc.).

To the friends and loves of my life, to my comrades of struggles and adventures, to the anarchists and all those interested in my situation: I am writing these few lines to update you on my conditions and to give you news of the repressive case that concerns me.

June 11, 2020 statement from Sean Swain

From June 11

My name is Sean Swain and I’m speaking to you from a pay phone at Buckingham Correctional in Dillwyn, Virginia. I’m here in Virginia because I was exiled from the Ohio prison system, which has declared that I’m something of a super-terrorist… for the content of my previous June 11 statements.

June 11, 2020 statement from Eric King

From June 11th

This is my sixth year in prison and has easily been the hardest. After being accused of assaulting a lieutenant on August 17, 2018, I’ve been in the SHU since. The past two years have shown me a wide scope of state brutality: physical beatings and tortures, psychological games like being kept in bare rooms with no contact to the free world, and their legal power – bringing serious new charges that could carry 20 additional years. Resistance is not a game.
