Earlier this year, Marius Mason — an anarchist, environmental and animal rights activist, vegan, artist, and trans advocate — was denied his scheduled gender affirming surgery by the Trump administration and transferred to a women’s prison. The Republican candidate’s campaign spent $27 million on ads condemning gender affirming care for prisoners and the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) quickly remanded those detained back to prisons corresponding to the gender they were assigned at birth.

Boston Prosecutors Invoke Law Used Against Anarchists to Charge Protesters

Four Boston police officers were injured in a confrontation near Boston Common with more than 200 protesters who the police said had refused to clear the roadway. Those arrested ranged in age from 19 to 28 and included students from at least two area colleges. All were to be charged with inciting a riot, a felony charge that is also known as “promotion of anarchy,” with origins in early 20th-century fears of anarchist violence.

In August, Ihar Alinevich completed his three-year prison sentence and was transferred to a colony. The so-called court considered Siarhei Ramanau’s appeal against his sentence under Article 411 and rejected it, adding an additional 1.5 years to his sentence. Thus, Siarhei’s total sentence is 24 years and 5 months. On September 14, he was transferred to the IK-9 colony in Horki.
